It was something of a mystery to me, for the longest time. People that I deeply respected, even aspired to somewhat emulate (which wasn't a specific trait, I later understood it to be authenticity)... well I would question them, and invariably they would speak to me of the importance of shadow work.

And I would nod in agreement, yes, it's vital I would agree out loud. For many years this would go around, and it was entirely superficial. I had explanations... but it is different hearing these things, reading them (somewhat ironic in a comment where I am trying to articulate this), than it is to actually live through it.

It took a few things for me to stumble my way into this shadow work... deciding that I was going to work on loving myself, work on my negative self-talk, things like that... that was (I believe) one key to this firmly locked door within me. I believe that everything 'snowballed' for me when I chose to take a compassionate and non-judgemental approach, to forgive my past (all of it).

Another was meeting the same dead ends and despair over-and-over in my life... and finally choosing to ask myself, "wait, is it me?"

And this is a major turning point. I can't tell you to do it. I mean I can, and you can ask yourself that...

But unless you are at that point where you face your own culpability in all of it, everything... then you will only, at best scrape the surface of that locked door. At least that was me, and I see it in so many people who are close to me now, the spiritual ones who are prepared to peep behind the veil, but only up to a point (so far).

They describe it as "facing your demons"

It is terrifying, yes.

And it is the frightened child within, who is telling you to shut up, sit down, don't risk drawing attention to yourself...

and so many other things that stand in the way of you embodying your true essence. "The Children of Man" who are here to be lightning bolts from 'heaven' upon this Earth in it's broken form.

This is all living within you until you do this, as a bruised and vengeful thought form running quietly behind everything that you do, or as the frightened child trapped in survival mode... no matter how well-intentioned (and most people ARE well-intentioned).

These disowned parts of yourself, you need to reclaim them into who you are, but first you must forgive them and love them.

Am I fully done with it? I doubt it. It has been integral to my personal programming for a lifetime... but I am not fearful of it, I am not intimidated or frightened, and there is good reason for this.

When you begin this process, you will feel the weight lift from you. You will feel the freer flow of energy through you. You will find it easier to breathe. It is easier to BE.

And each time, this brings me closer to 'living in heaven' - to be the receptor, to be the conduit.

I would love for you to experience this for yourself. At the end of the day, until you do, these will only ever be a collection of words. Live it, and it will all make sense afterwards.
