BBC: Fascist salute was a gesture I would see at every Ukrainian [soccer] game I went to, 2012

From BBC's 2012 documentary, Stadiums of Hate, produced back when the UK state broadcaster acknowledged the real influence of Ukrainian neo-Nazis
quote:
"The fascist sieg heil "was a gesture I would see at every Ukrainian [soccer] game I went to"

Bare in mind that almost all the Ukrainian volunteer battalions in 2014 were formed from the football hooligans. This BBC exclusive just shows the state of the football culture in 2012. It was rotten to the core and it was a fertile land to grow neo-nazi battalions to fight in the Ukraine Civil war of 2014-2022

"""
In 2016, Ukraine passed a law that banned books imported from Russia if they contained “anti-Ukrainian” content, with an “expert council” assessing noscripts for such content.

Antony Beevor said the ban is “pretty depressing from point of view of Ukraine itself they want to show themselves as being so much more democratic than Russians to the north and then they’re doing this”.

The Salon: As the situation in Ukraine continues to fester, a handy history guide -- from A (Argentina) to Z (Zaire), 2014

quote:
The U.S. is backing Ukraine's extreme right-wing Svoboda party and violent neo-Nazis whose armed uprising paved the way for a Western-backed coup. Events in the Ukraine are giving us another glimpse through the looking-glass of U.S. propaganda wars against fascism, drugs and terrorism. The ugly reality behind the mirror is that the U.S. government has a long and unbroken record of working with fascists, dictators, druglords and state sponsors of terrorism in every region of the world in its elusive but relentless quest for unchallenged global power.

Just for fun: Is it that hard to take a picture in the Ukraine without a nazi of some sort getting into the camera?!

▪️ The Guardian: neo-nazi Member of Ukraine Parliament assaults the acting head of the National Television, 2014

If The Guardian's link to the video of the event is broken, then here is a working one: in this video Miroshnychenko attacks and beats the acting head of the National Television and Radio Company of Ukraine Oleksandr Panteleimonov and makes him write a letter of resignation.

context:
The attacker is Ihor Miroshnychenko a member of neo-nazi Svoboda political party (which is the descendant of fascist Social-Nationalist party of Ukraine). The guy ranks at 5th place of top anti-Semites (see this post) according to Simon Wiesenthal Center and a member of Ukraine Parliament (Rada) in his public speech given on a demonstration says that he wants to send Russian Language to Ghetto. Turn on the Eng subs (the auto translated subs.)

▪️DailyMail (UK) is quoting Heather McGill, Ukraine researcher at Amnesty International:
quote:
=====
"It is astonishing that a member of the parliamentary committee on freedom of speech was involved in this attack. The acting authorities must send a signal that this sort of behavior will not be tolerated in Ukraine."

Russian officials have repeatedly claimed that the new interim government in Kiev is run by radicals and "neo-Nazis", and the actions by the Svoboda MP will play into their hands.

▪️International Business Times: Svoboda: The Rising Spectre Of Neo-Nazism In The Ukraine, 2012

=====
The Ukraine’s far-right ultra-nationalist political party, Svoboda All-Ukrainian Union, recently received global media attention after one of its officials called Ukrainian-born American film actress Mila Kunis a “dirty Jewess,” sparking outrage in Western Europe, Israel and the U.S.

Ihor Miroshnychenko, the deputy chief of Svoboda, wrote on his Facebook account: “[Kunis] is not Ukrainian, she is a Yid. She is proud of it, so [the] Star of David be with her.”

Member of Ukraine Parliament assault on the head of Ukraine national TV, part 3: (__part 1__, __part 2__)

Miroshnychenko is a passionate lad. Though this is not a photo of the OP event, but still quite colorful. It was taken in the Ukraine Parliament. The is some Accidental Renaissance right here.

P.S.S. According to Times of Israel Miroshnychenko might have been banned from entering the United States for their open anti-Semitism. Might have...

The 3rd photo in the post is a screen-shot from the Simon Wiesenthal Center document, here the original. This is a top of anti-semits where Miroshnichenko ranks 5th place along with his neo-nazi buddy Oleh Tyagnibok

The BBC must have made an exclusive with those guys, that would have been fun to watch.

The Daily Mail: Members of Ukrainian 'Azov battalion' wear SS emblems as a part of the official uniform, 2022

quote:
=====
The UK media coverage of this event strove mightily not to mention the neo-Nazis and to avoid using the word ‘surrender’
...
And it reached its peak last week when the Ukrainian defenders of the Mariupol steelworks, many of them in fact the neo-Nazis of the Azov battalion who proudly wear SS emblems on their official uniforms, surrendered.
.....
In the same way almost nobody, in education, politics or journalism, knows about the nasty, racist roots of Ukrainian nationalism, the horrible history of the vicious Stepan Bandera* (now a Ukrainian national hero), or the Kiev state’s discriminatory scorn for the Russian language. If Canada treated its French speakers as Ukraine treats its Russian speakers, there would be international outrage.

"Photographs started circulating across social media showing a man resembling Ukrainian Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk on stage at the “Veterans Strong” concert in Kyiv.

This was, however, no ordinary concert — it was organized by a far-right figure accused of murder, and headlined by a neo-Nazi band Sokyra Peruna"

▪️ The Times of Israel: Ukrainian PM, minister attended neo-Nazi concert in Kyiv, 2019

"Ukrainian Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk and Veterans Affairs Minister Oksana Koliada have defended their attendance at a concert earlier this month headlined by a neo-Nazi band, railing against the “politicization” of what they say was merely a benefit for veterans of their country’s ongoing war against Russian-backed separatists."

...
A Nazi-style swastika flag hangs behind him. Minister of Veterans Affairs and Temporarily Occupied Territories Oksana Koliada likewise appeared at the concert."

P.S.
1️⃣ Oleksiy Honcharuk ( Prime Minister of Ukraine 2019-2020) graduated from The Interregional Academy of Personnel Management which according to a report provided to the United States Congress is one of the most persistent anti-Semitic institutions in Eastern Europe.

You can see Honcharuk photo at the academy website in the section of famous graduates.

2️⃣ A neo-nazi band Sokyra Peruna:
The band is Ukraine’s most notorious neo-Nazi band. Its music is used to promote the notorious fascist Azov Battalion and the Right Sector, both of which played a central role in the US- and EU-backed coup in Kiev in February 2014. In videos and pictures posted on Instagram and Facebook, audience members can be seen hailing the band with “Heil Hitler” salutes, some wear T-shirts with swastikas and a number of audience members carrying Nazi flags.

One of the subscribers wanted to post this video on my subreddit. It has been circulating around the internet for some time now. After the capturing of The Azovstal it has began to circulate anew but it looks like it was already present on Youtube in 2017. Some say it was seen as early as 2015 but I couldn't find evidence of that.

Anyway sometimes ignorant yet suspicious (and it's good to be a sus one) public say:
"Well, it's hard to tell who is firing at whom, maybe those are Russians trying to setup the Ukraine side or maybe those are Ukrainians firing at the Donbass separatist."

Yeah, but we can investigate the case a bit:
1. Current instance of the video is posted by W.M. MyWay, judging by his other vids he has a soft spot for "The Right Sector"
2. After posting the current vid W.M. MyWay posted other videos of what looks like of the same trench:

In the first one you can hear and see:
▪️The Ukrainian speech and accents,
▪️The Talk of "separatist",
▪️The guy with the periscope is a fascist from the Rigth Sector by the nickname "Sever" (Kazantsev Evgeniy Victorovich, a Russian citizen who was fighting for Ukraine against Donbass. In 2022 by the Kursk region police he was identified among Ukrainian prisoners of war, here is his testimony and confession, an article about the event (Russian language))
▪️There is a strange installation or a rig of some sorts near the soldiers covered with a yellow bag (looks like a try pod for the machine gun from the video with a nazi flag)
▪️A camouflaged net of the same style to the right of the covered rig which again can be seen in the original video with a nazi flag.

In the second video you can see
▪️a soldier using a machine gun next to what might be the same rig which was used in the original video
▪️at the end the same soldier using the other more heavy machine gun on the same rig (which looks the same as the gun from the original video).

This is just a meager attempt at an investigation... and from the data available with high degree of certainty it can already be inferred that the Ukrainians did use that flag during the combat with Donbass rebels.

P.S.
So... when DPR says that it saw nazi flags waving on the Ukraine side, well it might very well be the truth.

Just like this video of another such event: 03.05.2019 Ukrainian Army raised the flag of the German fascists over their positions in the village of Marinka near Donetsk, where the occupiers set up firing points in residential buildings.

Le Monde Diplomatique: Ukraine honors the responsible for killing 100,000 Jews in 1917 pogroms, 2020
quote:
"""
Representatives of the government of Ukraine unveiled a bust in Kiev’s
Petliura Street on 21 January 2019 to honor Symon Petliura (after whom the street is named), commander in chief of Ukraine’s nationalist forces 1918-20. Ukraine authorities consider him a national hero, and he already had a statue in Vinnytsia, a city southwest of Kiev, unveiled in October 2017.

Petliura was responsible for pogroms in which some 100,000 Jews were killed, during the civil war after the 1917 Russian Revolution between the Bolsheviks and the White (counter-revolutionary) armies in the former tsarist empire. Some opponents of the Bolshevik revolution regarded it as a Jewish plot and every Jew as a covert communist. There were about 1,500 pogroms in Russia, Belarus and especially Ukraine.
"""

▪️ An interesting bit about the "Petliura Days" from a wiki article on 1941 pogroms:
quote:
"""
A second pogrom took place in the last days of July 1941 and was called "Petliura Days" after the assassinated Ukrainian leader Symon Petliura. The killings were organized with German encouragement, while Ukrainian militants from outside the city joined the fray with farm tools.

Svoboda* (Ukraine political party with members in the parliament) has played a leading role in the protests. It was registered in 1995 and initially used a swastika-style “wolfsangel” rune as its logo.

It restricted membership to ethnic Ukrainians. Until 2004 it had a paramilitary wing called
Patriots of Ukraine, and though it ended its link to the group in 2005, the two continue to be closely associated.

An interview (sorry no English*) with Oleksiy Arestovych, adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, explained why, knowing in advance about the "attack" of Russia, the country's leadership did not begin the evacuation of civilians. According to him, this would greatly complicate the work of the army.

Arestovich, who worked in the Chief Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, explains the absence of the evacuation of civilians in simple terms.

quote:
======
Announcing the evacuation in connection with the pending Russian invasion would cause mass panic. A huge flow of people of 10-12 million people would try to hastily leave the country.

Such an influx of civilians would completely paralyze the movement of the army, which must quickly advance and take up defense. All the bridges on the left-bank part of the country would be blocked, which would be a very good situation for the Russian military leadership.

The only way out in this situation would be to push tanks and shoot your own citizens to get through the bridges
======

Thus the timely evacuation was not announced.
*looks like the Western Media is not interested enough to translate it

BBC: The rise of Ukraine's ultra-nationalists to power. 2012

The Ukraine nazism didn't just happen in 2022. It all brew long before all this "Russian aggression of 2014" thing.

quote:
Ukraine's ultra-nationalist party, Svoboda, was a shock winner in October's parliamentary election, capturing 10% of the vote and entering the legislature for the first time. How radical is it?*

*and that is a good question, which was answered by the western media themselves: it's a neo-nazi party.

P.S. On the photo is one of the many fights in the Ukrainian Parliament. In the center you can see a neo-nazi Ihor Miroshnychenko — a member of Svoboda neo-nazi parliament party.

The still is quite renaissancy, don't you think?
