A new strain of mpox has been discovered by scientists in England.
The new strain was found in a person who had recently travelled to Asia, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) said.
Officials said they had identified a "new recombinant mpox virus" - meaning it has genetic material from different viral strains.
The UKHSA said genomic sequencing showed the mpox genome contained elements of clade Ib and IIb mpox.
Dr Katy Sinka, head of sexually transmitted infections at UKHSA, said: "It's normal for viruses to evolve, and further analysis will help us understand more about how mpox is changing.
"Although mpox infection is mild for many, it can be severe.
"Getting vaccinated is a proven effective way to protect yourself against severe disease, so please make sure to get the jab if you are eligible."

Two teenage Afghan illegals have been found guilty of raping a schoolgirl who filmed them dragging her away screaming.
Jan Jahanzeb and Israr Niazal, both 17, are facing jail for sexually assaulting the 15-year-old in a park in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, on May 10.
Footage captured by the victim on her phone that day was so appalling that one of the boy's own barristers warned it would lead to rioting if the public were to see it.

Rapper Ghetts has admitted killing a young man in a hit-and-run collision in north-east London.
The grime artist, whose real name is Justin Clarke-Samuel, failed to stop after his BMW hit Nepali student Yubin Tamang, 20, in Ilford, north-east London, on 18 October.
Police said the rapper was driving over 60mph in a 30mph zone, and hit Mr Tamang who was crossing the road.
Clarke-Samuel, 41, from Woodford, east London, pleaded guilty to causing Mr Tamang's death by dangerous driving, and a second charge of dangerous driving on the same day. He also faces two further charges which are driving while over the legal alcohol limit and dangerous driving.

He was found 165 indecent pictures and videos - including 58 category A - the most serious category.
He also had 1,578 prohibited images of children some of which showed young girls aged between three and 10 years old.
He was given a suspended sentence.

‘I accept that you come from a place which has significant cultural differences from the UK, however I don’t accept that either of you does not understand the concept of consent.
‘You have betrayed the interests of those, like you, who come here fleeing harm and seeking safety and for that you should feel a deep and lasting sense of shame.’
The asylum seekers were living in taxpayer-funded houses at the time of the attack, having arrived in the UK by small boats as unaccompanied children.

Three men and a teenager have been charged as part of an investigation into the rape and exploitation of a girl.
Avon and Somerset Police received reports that the victim had been raped in a residential property in St Werburgh's, Bristol, on 30 November.

A 20-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with two counts of rape and arranging or facilitating the travel of a female with a view to exploitation.
Salman Habibkheil, 18, who is an Afghan and lives in Lockleaze, is charged with rape and arranging or facilitating the travel of a female with a view to exploitation.
Awal Amadzai, 18, who lives in of Redcliffe, has been charged with rape and sexual assault.
The 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reason, is charged with rape.
The suspects, appeared at Bristol Magistrates' Court on Saturday. They were remanded to appear at Bristol Crown Court on 7 January.

Afterwards, he reminded the Year 6 class that Islam was a minority religion in the UK.
And according to the child who made the complaint, he said there was a Islamic school a mile away if they wished to attend it instead.

An Afghan national has been charged with raping two 14-year-old girls in a flat in Bolton.
Sultani Bakatash, 28, was arrested in the early hours of Sunday following a report of rape in the Middle Hulton area of the town.
He has been remanded into custody and was due to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court at 9.45am on Tuesday.
