Two teenage Afghan asylum seekers have been jailed today for raping a schoolgirl who filmed them dragging her away screaming.
Small boat migrants Jan Jahanzeb and Israr Niazal, both 17, sexually assaulted the 15-year-old in a park in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, on May 10.
Passing sentence, the judge said: ‘No child should have to suffer the ordeal (the victim) has suffered. The fact is, you two have robbed her of her childhood and nothing that the sentence of this court and nothing I can do today can restore that.
‘I accept that you come from a place which has significant cultural differences from the UK, however I don’t accept that either of you does not understand the concept of consent.
‘You have betrayed the interests of those, like you, who come here fleeing harm and seeking safety and for that you should feel a deep and lasting sense of shame.’
The asylum seekers were living in taxpayer-funded houses at the time of the attack, having arrived in the UK by small boats as unaccompanied children.

Three men and a teenager have been charged as part of an investigation into the rape and exploitation of a girl.
Avon and Somerset Police received reports that the victim had been raped in a residential property in St Werburgh's, Bristol, on 30 November.

A 20-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with two counts of rape and arranging or facilitating the travel of a female with a view to exploitation.
Salman Habibkheil, 18, who is an Afghan and lives in Lockleaze, is charged with rape and arranging or facilitating the travel of a female with a view to exploitation.
Awal Amadzai, 18, who lives in of Redcliffe, has been charged with rape and sexual assault.

The suspects, appeared at Bristol Magistrates' Court on Saturday. They were remanded to appear at Bristol Crown Court on 7 January.

The teacher, who chose to remain anonymous, was suspended and sacked after he reprimanded students for washing their feet in the sinks in the boys' toilets, it is reported.
Afterwards, he reminded the Year 6 class that Islam was a minority religion in the UK.
And according to the child who made the complaint, he said there was a Islamic school a mile away if they wished to attend it instead.

An Afghan national has been charged with raping two 14-year-old girls in a flat in Bolton.
Sultani Bakatash, 28, was arrested in the early hours of Sunday following a report of rape in the Middle Hulton area of the town.
He has been remanded into custody and was due to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court at 9.45am on Tuesday.
