بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم الإمام ابن كثير ‎ - قصص الأنبياء PROPHET: HUD (عليه السلام) PART: 10 MIGHTIER THAN THEIR MIGHT. It destroyed their palaces and high landmarks. As they boasted of their strength and power and said: ‘Who is mightier than us?’ Allah…

PROPHET: SALEH (عليه السلام)

PART: 1 (Chapter – 5)

WHO WERE THAMUD?

Thamud was a famous tribe, who were named after their forefather Thamud, the brother of Jadis. Both are the sons of Athir bin Iram bin Shem bin Noah.

WHERE THEY LIVED

They were Arabs who lived between Hijaz and Tabuk. The Prophet ﷺ passed by this place when he went with Muslims to Tabuk. They lived after the people of Aad, and worshipped idols as Aad did.

WHO WAS SENT TO THEM?

Allah sent among them a man from among themselves as His Messenger. He was Saleh bin Ubaid bin Maseh bin Ubaid bin Hadir bin Thamud.

He called them to worship one God and not to associate any partner with Him, and to shun all their idols and their false majority rejected him. They tried to discredit him and slander him, and they even tried to kill him.

They killed the She-Camel which ALLĀH ﷻ sent to them as evidence of the truth of Saleh’s Mission. ALLĀH ﷻ punished them severely and destroyed them.

IN THE NOBLE QUR’AN

We notice in many places in the Qur’an that ALLĀH ﷻ very often mentions the story of Thamud after Aad, as in Surat At-Taubah, Abraham, Al-Furqan, Saad, Qaf, An-Najm and Al-Fajr.

MOSES HAD KNOWLEDGE OF THAMUD

It is also said that both of these nations are not known to the People of the Book, and there in no mention of them in their book, the Torah. However, when we read the Qur’an we find that Moses had knowledge of them and he informed about their consequences.

Qatādā bin Di’āma رحمه الله Said:-

"Allāhﷻ is with those who have Taqwā of Him. Whoever has Allāhﷻ with him, then with him is the party that will never be overcome, the sentry that will never sleep and the guide who will never go astray"

One of the Salaf wrote to one of his brothers Saying
"As for what follows...if Allāhﷻ is with you, then who do you have to fear? If He is against you then who can you hope in? Peace!"

The supplication, which will be answered on Friday

There are different opinions about the time of the supplication which will be answered on Friday. The two strongest views are as follows:

▪️ 1) The time is from the moment the Imam begins preaching until the end of Friday prayer.

▪️ 2) The last hour before the evening prayer (Al-Maghrib)

➡️ Proof of 1st opinion:

Abu Hurayrah - may Allah be pleased with him - reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned Friday and then said:
"There is an hour in it that no Muslim servant reaches while praying and asking Allah - the Mighty and Allmighty - for something, except that He grants him this." And he pointed with his hand and reduced it (the time).
📗 [reported from Al-Bukhari by Muslim]

And the following hadith:
Abu Burdah narrated from his father - may Allah be pleased with him - who heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say:
"It (this hour) is between the time the Imam sits down to the time the prayer is performed."

➡️ The evidence for the 2nd opinion:

The hadith of 'Abdullah Ibn Salam, narrated by Ibn Mājah, and Jābir, narrated by Abu Dawud and An-Nasāi, states that it is (the time) between the afternoon prayer and the sunset.

Are you at Ease?

Abu Saied Al-Khudri (رضي الله عنه) Reported:
The Messenger of ALLĀH ﷻ Prophet Muhammad ﷺ Said: "How can I feel at Ease when the Angel of the Trumpet, (Israfil) has put his Lips to the Trumpet and is Waiting for the order to Blow it".
He (ﷺ) Perceived as if this Had Shocked his Companions, so he (ﷺ) told them to Seek Comfort Through Reciting:
'Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal-wakil'
"[ALLĀH ﷻ (Alone) is Sufficient for US, and He is the Best Disposer of Affairs (for us)]".

PROPHET: SALEH (عليه السلام)

PART: 2 (Chapter – 5)

MOSES HAD KNOWLEDGE OF THAMUD-2

ALLĀH ﷻ Surat Ibrahim: “And Moses said: ‘If you and all those on earth with you, are ungrateful, surely ALLĀH ﷻ is All-Sufficient, Worthy of all praise.’ Has not the stories reached you of those who were before you, the people of Noah, Aad, Thanmud, and of those after them whom none knows except ALLĀH ﷻ? To them came Messengers with clear signs…” (14:8-9)

The context is clear that Moses spoke to his people and cited to them the stories of Aad and Thamud. However, as these two peoples were from Arab origin, their stories are not accurately recorded by the people of the Book, neither did they pay any attention towards preserving such stories. InDeeD they were known in the times of Moses.

THE STORY OF THAMUD

Now we will mention their story and what consequences they bore when they rejected the truth. How ALLĀH ﷻ rescued Saleh and those who believed with him and how He destroyed those who belied Saleh and refused to follow the Divine Truth.

We have already said that Thamud were people of Arab origin, who came after Aad and they did not take any lesson from their predecessor’s story. Their Prophet Saleh told them: “Worship ALLĀH ﷻ, you have no God other than Him. There has now come to you a clear sign from your Lord, this is Allah’s she-camel, a sign for you. So leave her alone to graze on Allah’s earth, and do not harm her, least a painful chastisement should seize you. And remember when He made you successors after Aad and established you in the land and enabled you to make castles on its plains and to hew out houses from its mountains. So remember Allah’s bounties and do not work mischief in the earth.”
(7:73-74)
Saleh said them: ALLĀH ﷻ made you successor after Aad so that you may not follow their path and act righteously. He has facilitated for you to build palaces and castles on the plains of this earth.

Narrated `Aisha:
When the Prophet (ﷺ) became ill, some of his wives talked about a church which they had seen in Ethiopia and it was called Mariya. Um Salma and Um Habiba had been to Ethiopia, and both of them narrated its (the Church's) beauty and the pictures it contained.

The Prophet (ﷺ) raised his head and said,
"Those are the people who, whenever a pious man dies amongst them, make a place of worship at his grave and then they make those pictures in it. Those are the worst creatures in the Sight of Allah."

Tips to Help You Pepare for Ramadan

Ramadan is around the corner. Here are some tips to help you prepare and make the most out of this special month.

1. Seek Knowledge

Learn about the fiqh of Ramadan and its do's and don'ts to ensure you fast properly. Learn du'as which you can use throughout Ramadan and the meanings of the Surahs which you recite in Salah.

2. Get Physically Ready

Many people suffer from caffeine-withdrawal headaches in the first few days of Ramadan. Start cutting down now or changing the time you have it so it doesn't affect you in Ramadan. Try to keep optional fasts so your body is ready for the Ramadan fasts.

3. Get Organised

If you're working in Ramadan or studying, create a plan and organise your days so that you have plenty of time to dedicate to ALLĀH ﷻ. Consider making a schedule for work, your family, chores, cooking, Tarawih, Qur'an recitation, dua's etc.

4. Ask Forgiveness

Don't wait for Ramadan to seek forgiveness from ALLĀH ﷻ. Many will not live to see it. A believer should always be in the habit of making istighfar. How beautiful would it be to begin Ramadan with a clean slate

In Shaā Allāh, for this Month of Shabaan 1444 AH, Ayyam al-Beed [white days] Will fall On:

Have you Made the Intention to Fast?

13th Shabaan – Monday 6th of March
14th Shabaan – Tuesday 7th of March
15th Shabaan – Wednesday 8th March

“Beed” is the plural of “Abyad” which means white. Three days of 13, 14 and 15 of lunar month are called “Al-Ayyam-ul-Beed” for the reason that their nights are bright because of the moonlight. The moon begins to diminish gradually after these days.

•Jareer ibn ‘Abdullaah رضي الله عنه narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said:
“Fasting three days of each month is fasting for a lifetime, and ayyam al-beed are the thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth.”

•Abu Dharr رضي الله عنه said: The Messenger of ALLĀH ﷻ ﷺ said to me: “If you fast any part of the month, then fast the thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth.”

•Abu Hurayrah رضي الله عنه said: “My close friend [i.e., the Prophet ﷺ] advised me to do three things which I will never give up until I die: fasting three days each month, praying Duha, and sleeping after praying Witr.”

What A Salaf Said Regarding Fasting, SubḥānAllāh!!

•Sufyān b. ‘Uyaynah Raḥimahullāh said:
“When on the Day of Resurrection a slave is being taken into account and from amongst all of his actions are sins, and all that remains is that person’s fast, Allāhﷻ will take from him all of the sins and enter him into Jannah with his fast.”

The Wisdom Behind Fasting | Sh. Ibn al-'Uthaymeen Raḥimahullāh

•Sh. Ibn al-‘Uthaymeen Raḥimahullāh said: “From the wisdom of fasting is that it is a form of training for controlling the soul and the power to stop yourself for indeed man is inclined towards evil except for the one to whom mercy is shown by Allāhﷻ, it also overwhelms a person and makes them humble, it gives them humility towards the Creator and kindness towards the creation.

From the wisdom of fasting is that the blood becomes less flowing, it becomes more thick and more constricted when a person is hungry and thirsty, this causes the flowing of Shayṭān to be less as well for indeed Shayṭān flows through the bloodstream of the son of Ādam as has been authentically narrated from the Prophet ﷺ in Bukhārī and Muslim so fasting decreases the whispers of Shayṭān and it decreases the episodes of lust and anger hence the reason fasting is called a 'shield’ against desires."

•Prophet ﷺ said: "There is a gate in Jannāh called ar-Rayyān and only those who observed fast shall enter through."

•Al Bassaam رحمه الله said: "Fasting increases mercy and people AWARE of the pain suffered by those less fortunate."

Prophet ﷺ Said:
"Every servant of ALLĀH ﷻ who observes fast for a day in the way of ALLĀH ﷻ, Allāhﷻ would remove, because of this day, his face farther from the Fire (of Hell) to the extent of seventy years' distance.

Virtue Of Fasting

The Messenger of Allāhﷻ Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “Whoever fasts a day in the Path of Allāhﷻ, Allāhﷻ will create between him and the Hellfire a trench like (the distance of) what is between the sky and the earth.”

Reward Of Fasting

•Shaykh Ibn al-‘Uthaymīn رحمه الله: “And from the virtues of the fasting is that its reward is NOT limited to a specific amount rather the fasting person is given his reward without an account (i.e unlimited reward).”

Do Try to Fast the 3 White days, In Shaa Allāh

“Certainly, celebrating the Fifteenth night of Shabaan by Performing Supererogatory Prayer's or other act's of Worship, and Singling out its day with Fast is a Despicable Innovation, as Viewed by the Majority of the people of Knowledge.

There is no basis for it in the pure Shari'ah, Rather, it is from that which Arose in Islam after the Era of the Companions

PROPHET: SALEH (عليه السلام)

PART: 3 (Chapter – 5)

HOUSES OUT OF THE MOUNTAINS

“And you hew houses out of the mountains with great skills.” (26:149) You are skilled in your profession with precision and mastery, so you could be grateful to ALLĀH ﷻ and act according to His Guidance and worship only Him without associating any partners with Him. You should not go the way Aad went to, because it bore severe consequences.

That is why he admonished them: “Do you think you will be left secure here, in gardens and fountains, in plantations and date groves with fine spathes? And you hew houses out of the mountains with great skills. So fear ALLĀH ﷻ and obey me, and do not obey the bidding of the transgressors, who spread corruption in the land and do not do right.” (26:146-152)

He also said to them: “O my people! Worship ALLĀH ﷻ, you have no God other than him. He has created you from the earth, and made you dwell in it therefore ask for forgiveness from Him, then repent to Him, surely my Lord is Near (by His Knowledge) and Responsive.” (11:61)
He said to them: It is He Who created you and made you from earth and permitted you to dwell in it by providing plantations, crops and fruits. He is the Provider and Sustainer and so He deserves your worship and devotions. He asked them to abandon their idol worship and forefathers’ way of devotion and do what ALLĀH ﷻ has commanded them to do.

SHALL WE LEAVE OUR FOREFATHERS’ WAY?

“They
said: ‘O Saleh! Surely, you were among a source of hope before this. Do you forbid us to worship what our forefathers worshipped? Surely, we are in suspicious doubts as to what you invite us to.” (11:62) His people said to him that we regarded you one of the great minds among us before you brought this Message. You have disappointed us by asking us to abandon our forefathers’ way of life and to follow what you call the worship of One God, it is not possible.

‼️ Shab-e- Baraat Reminder's - 1️⃣

EXTREMELY WRONG EXEGESIS
(Tafsir) of the Aayah

•Some of the people, out of excessive glorification paid to the night of mid-Sha‘ban, even reached to the extent of saying that it is the blessed night on which the Qur’an was sent down, and every matter of ordainment is decreed.

They considered it the Tafsir (explanation/exegesis of the meanings) of Allāh'sﷻ Statement:
We sent it (this Qur’ân) down on a blessed night [(i.e. night of Al-Qadr, Sûrah No. 97) in the month of Ramadân - the 9th month of the Islâmic calendar]. Verily, We are ever warning [mankind that Our Torment will reach those who disbelieve in Our Oneness of Lordship and in Our Oneness of worship]. Therein (that night) is decreed every matter of ordainments.

📌THIS IS A BLATANT ERROR, and a Distortion of the Meaning of the Qur’an.

What is meant by the blessed night in the Ayah is Laylat-ul-Qadr (the Night of Decree), as ALLĀH ﷻ states:
"Verily, We have sent it (this Qur’ân) down in the night of Al-Qadr (Decree). which is in Ramadan, based on the Hadiths reported in this regard, and because ALLĀH ﷻ says: The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur’ân, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong)".

May ALLĀH ﷻ grant us success! May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, his family and Companions!

Hasan Al-Basri رحمه الله said:

“Our istighfār (seeking forgiveness) requires istighfār!”

[Tafsīr Al-Qurtubī: 4/210]

The intent behind this is that many of us are not sincere in our Istighfār and we do not meet the conditions of an accepted repentance.

This is because repentance has conditions which need to be met in order for it to be accepted.

1) The person gives up the sin Immediately

S
aying you have repented, and you haven’t given up the sin is the repentance of the liars!

Al-Fuḍayl ibn ʻIyāḍ رحمه الله said:

“Repentance without Iqlā’ (giving up the sin) is the repentance of the liars!”

2) That he regrets the sin he has committed

Th
is is the cornerstone and pillar of repentance. The Prophet ﷺ said:

(Regret is repentance)

You cannot say you have repented when you do not regret the sin you committed. Rather, if they had another opportunity to commit it, they would pounce at the opportunity and hasten to do it another time. And you cannot say you have repented sincerely if you remember your sins as good moments in your life as if you’re proud of it.

3) That he has a firm resolve to never commit the sin he has repented from

Ma
ny people say they have repented, but they do not have a firm resolve to leave the sin. They do not cut off the people of the sin, or abandon the place of the sin or refrain from the pathways and avenues which lead back to the sin.

This is Why our Repentance Requires Repentance!

An Example of a Pious Wife

(Although this Article was Written primarily for Brother's, it also Serves as a good Reminder for Sister's as to what a good Muslim Wife should be Like.)

"When I Started looking for a Wife, my only Intention was to Find a Muslim woman who Could help me become a Better Muslim. After praying to ALLĀH ﷻ many times, I came to know of a Muslim brother in my Area who had an Unwed Sister. I was told that She was Seven years Older than I was, had No College Education, and had Minor health Problems. Despite this, I Arranged for a Meeting to Discuss the possibility of Marriage.

When I met her, I was Impressed by her Modesty (she was fully covered in correct hijab). She was not Attractive, Nor was she Rich. However, at the Conclusion of our Meeting, I felt Comfortable with the Fact that she was What I was Looking for. After praying Istikharah, I felt confident that she was right for me. Our Nikah (marriage) was performed only a few weeks later.

Oh yeah, this was a Muslim wedding - the kind where the men sit separate from the women; we didn't have disco music or belly dancers or any other kind of un-Islamic stuff. There might have been one brother who was NOT wearing Sunnah. We spent most of the time praying, praising Allah, discussing what a great blessing the responsibility of marriage was, etc. I think the total cost of the wedding might have been around US $20.00 in Indian Rupees 1,638 Rupees (we held it in my brother-in-law's apartment). I had the time of my life!

Despite the fact that she is very stubborn and argumentative, she is one of the best Muslim women a man could ask for. And I am NOT talking about the way she wakes me up in the middle of the night for tahajjud, the way she covers her face in public, the way she investigates every action that I do, the way she will stop talking to me if I don't read the Qur'an or go to the Masjid every day. I am speaking about her fear of Allāhﷻ and love for the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

Not bad for a woman some people called ugly, who has no college education or money.

I wouldn't Trade this Woman for Anything in the World.

Many times when the discussion of marriage arises, I will hear one brother after another discussing how beautiful and educated they want their dream wives to be. Others will talk of love or family racial pride.

Fools...with all due respect.

In case some of you are confused as to why I am mentioning all of this, let me tell you what I know and came to realise…”

Ya Allāhﷻ bless us with purified spouses who will be a source of delight for us & a mean of entering Jannah...
May Allāhﷻ bestow us with Imaan pious spouse...
May Allāhﷻ grant us good in this Duniya and Hereafter,
Allāhumma Aāmeen

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم الإمام ابن كثير ‎ - قصص الأنبياء PROPHET: SALEH (عليه السلام) PART: 3 (Chapter – 5) HOUSES OUT OF THE MOUNTAINS “And you hew houses out of the mountains with great skills.” (26:149) You are skilled in your profession with precision…

PROPHET: SALEH (عليه السلام)

PART: 4 (Chapter – 5)

SALIH’S RESPONSE

Salih answered them saying: “O my people! Just consider, if I have a clear sign from my Lord, and He has bestowed His Mercy upon me who is there to save me from Allah if I disobey Him? What would you gain for me but perdition (punishment)?”(11:63)

This was a very polite way of argument from Saleh with his people and to invite them to the way of Allah. He said to them: What would you say if it all came true as I have said to you? What would be your excuse before Allah? Who will rescue you from Allah? You are asking me to abandon my duty. This is not possible, since it is an obligation upon me; if I abandoned it, there would be nobody to provide me with any refuge from Allah. So I am asking you to worship Allah Alone without any partners for him, until Allah judges between you and me.

But their answer was: “You are merely one of those who are bewitched” (26:153) You are just unable to perceive what you are saying. You do not understand anything because you have been bewitched by someone. They also said to him: “You are nothing, but a human like us.” (26:154)

WE NEED A SIGN - THE SHE-CAMEL

Thamud then demanded their Prophet to produce some evidence or to bring a miracle to prove his claim: “So bring a sign if you are truthful.” (26:154) Saleh said to them: “This is a she-camel, she shall have her portion of water, and you shall have your portion of water on an appointed day. And do not harm her, lest you be seized with a chastisement of a grievous day.”(26:155-156). Or as he said in another Verse: “This is the she-camel of Allah, as a sign for you, leave her to graze in Allah’s earth and do not harm her, lest you be seized by a swift chastisement.” (7:73)

Imam Al-Awzai may Allah have mercy upon him said:

"I have been informed whoever introduces a bid'ah [innovation/heresy], Shaytaan abandon's him and worship, and casts upon him reverence and tears, so that he can haunt him !"
