A US official confirmed to ABC News the inspection of a Venezuelan fishing vessel last Friday, September 12, but assured that the boarding took place in international waters as part of the drug search operation.

The official stated that Coast Guard personnel, stationed aboard the US Navy destroyer USS Jason Dunham, searched the fishing vessel for drugs following a lead, but found no contraband.
