At least 3 asteroids are expected to fly past Earth within 1 lunar distance from the center of our planet on November 8, 2021. The objects are designated as 2021 VL3, 2021 VN3, and 2021 VM3. With 2021 VK3 on November 7, this makes 4 <1 LD asteroid flybys in 24 hours.
Since the start of the year, our sky surveys have discovered 123 asteroids whose orbits took them within 1 lunar distance from Earth's center.

A bright fireball streaked through the partially overcast skies over Georgia and Alabama at 23:39 UTC on November 9, 2021.
The event was also detected by 3 NASA meteor cameras in the region, allowing the determination of trajectory and orbit.1

A newly-discovered asteroid designated 2021 VU4 will fly past Earth at a distance of 0.28 LD / 0.00072 AU (107 710 km / 66 930 miles) from the center of our planet at 19:46 UTC on November 10, 2021. This is the 124th known asteroid to fly past Earth within 1 lunar distance since the start of the year and the 7th so far this month.
The object was first observed at Pan-STARRS 2, Haleakala, Hawaii on November 8, two days before its close approach.

ROLLS-ROYCE TO DEVELOP MINI NUKE REACTORS TO DECARBONIZE POWER GRID
In a world where ESG is all the rage, and the transition from coal to cleaner energy sources is paramount, the UK has become the latest country to embrace nuclear power.
Rolls-Royce Group, BNF Resources UK Limited, & Exelon Generation Ltd will develop small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs) that will allow the country to meet net-zero commitments. SMRs will be built in the UK and exported to customers worldwide.
Warren East, Rolls-Royce CEO, adds, "With the Rolls-Royce SMR technology, we have developed a clean energy solution which can deliver cost-competitive and scalable net-zero power for multiple applications from grid and industrial electricity production to hydrogen and synthetic fuel manufacturing."
SMRs are a much cheaper solution than big nuclear power plants that have been in used in the past.
A combination of nuclear power via SMRs, renewables, carbon capture, and storage could be part of a balanced net-zero grid. [ Article ]

“Inflation is broadening out, with the necessities of food and shelter together accounting for more than half of the increase in September. Consumers are feeling it in the pocketbook at the grocery store and tenants in many parts of the country could get sticker shock at their next lease renewal,” McBride said.
Wells Fargo analysts say it’s unlikely sticker-shock-weary consumers will see relief as the persistent supply-side crunch will “keep fanning the flames on inflation in the near term.” [ Article ]
