Powerful storm hits British Columbia, leaving around 30 000 homes without power, Canada
A powerful storm rapidly intensified over British Columbia on November 9, 2021, bringing heavy rain, powerful wind gusts, and heavy snow to mountain passes. This is the third potent low to hit the region in less than three weeks.
The province is currently stuck in a non-stop unsettled pattern that won't budge, The Weather Network reports.
"These fierce wind gusts could cause additional power outages for the North and Central coasts, and northern Vancouver Island, with much less intense but still strong winds lingering through the day Tuesday for the Lower Mainland. In addition to the rain and wind threat, there's also the chance for severe thunderstorms inching into the South Coast on Tuesday." https://watchers.news/2021/11/09/bomb-cyclone-british-columbia-november-9-2021/

Anomalous King Tides flood Georgia and South Carolina; 10.45 feet (3.19 meters) in Savannah and 8.51 feet (2.59 meters) in Charleston
Officials say a strong storm off the Southeast coast combined with periodic higher tides caused coastal flooding that approached levels rarely seen outside of hurricanes along the South Carolina and Georgia coasts.
Sunday morning’s high tide reached 10.45 feet (3.19 meters) at Fort Pulaski, just east of Savannah, Georgia.
4TH HIGHEST ON RECORD

ROLLS-ROYCE TO DEVELOP MINI NUKE REACTORS TO DECARBONIZE POWER GRID
In a world where ESG is all the rage, and the transition from coal to cleaner energy sources is paramount, the UK has become the latest country to embrace nuclear power.
Rolls-Royce Group, BNF Resources UK Limited, & Exelon Generation Ltd will develop small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs) that will allow the country to meet net-zero commitments. SMRs will be built in the UK and exported to customers worldwide.
Warren East, Rolls-Royce CEO, adds, "With the Rolls-Royce SMR technology, we have developed a clean energy solution which can deliver cost-competitive and scalable net-zero power for multiple applications from grid and industrial electricity production to hydrogen and synthetic fuel manufacturing."
SMRs are a much cheaper solution than big nuclear power plants that have been in used in the past.
A combination of nuclear power via SMRs, renewables, carbon capture, and storage could be part of a balanced net-zero grid. [ Article ]

RELIEF FROM HIGH PRICES UNLIKELY, ANALYSTS SAY AHEAD OF CONSUMER INFLATION DATA RELEASE
“Inflation is broadening out, with the necessities of food and shelter together accounting for more than half of the increase in September. Consumers are feeling it in the pocketbook at the grocery store and tenants in many parts of the country could get sticker shock at their next lease renewal,” McBride said.
Wells Fargo analysts say it’s unlikely sticker-shock-weary consumers will see relief as the persistent supply-side crunch will “keep fanning the flames on inflation in the near term.” [ Article ]

“Our concern is that the FBI, being a preeminent counterterrorism agency, along with the CIA [and NSA], that those assets could be turned inward to target U.S. citizens without a foreign nexus,” said Crawford, who is on the counterterrorism and counterintelligence panel of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

US inflation jumps to 31-year high amid global supply chain crisis – as it happened
Inflation has surged in the US, China and Germany. In the US, consumer prices rose at an annual rate of 6.2% in October amid global supply shortages, the highest since 1990, while the core rate excluding food and energy picked up to 4.6%, the highest since 1991.
There was a fresh jump in gasoline prices which had levelled off in recent weeks, while prices for hotel rooms and car rentals bounced back amid a recovery in travel, and new and used car prices also rose.
Inflation in China rose to a tamer 1.5% annual rate last month, but this was a doubling from 0.7%, while German inflation came in at 4.5% in October versus 4.1% in September.
Wall Street is down while the major European indices have also edged lower, with the notable exceptions of the UK’s FTSE 100 index, up 0.6%, and Italy’s FTSE MiB, up 0.4%. [Article]

Rittenhouse: Rosenbaum was chasing me. He said he was gonna kill me if he got me alone. I was alone. I was running from him. I pointed at him, and it didn't stop him from continuing to chase me.
Binger: Did you hear my question?
R: Yes.
B: Yet you chose not to answer.
This is truly demonic & evil.
Kenosha DA Binger: You understand how dangerous it is to point a gun at someone, correct?
R: Yes.
B: You understand that that puts someone else, in fear, that they're about to be killed, right?
R: He was chasing me.
But Binger kept going...
Starting to wonder if Kenosa prosecutor Binger is some pro-violence masochist since he has such a problem with Rittenhouse or any other human being acting to prevent oneself from being shot, beaten, or trampled.
Interesting logic! Let yourself be killed -- good one!

Biden Responds to Soaring Inflation, Orders Economic Council to ‘Reduce Energy Costs’
“Today’s report shows an increase over last month. Inflation hurts Americans pocketbooks [sic], and reversing this trend is a top priority for me,” Biden said in a statement on Nov. 10. “The largest share of the increase in prices in this report is due to rising energy costs.”
The president said he directed his top economic aides to attempt to “further reduce these costs,” regarding energy prices. He also asked the Federal Trade Commission to deal with “market manipulation or price gouging in this sector.”
High inflation is eroding wage gains, adding to the political risk facing Biden, whose approval rating has been falling, according to a number of recent polls, as Americans grow more anxious about the economy. Broadening inflationary pressures could also complicate the Federal Reserve’s communication, with top officials saying it’s “expected to be transitory” in recent public comments. [Article]
