Despite the loss of sovereign leadership it is still possible to become a sovereign individual, to educate oneself and confront the political from a standpoint of power, instead of what first attracts the senses or what is merely a reaction of the mass. For the loss of sovereignty is also the loss of law and judgement, and it is for this reason that any counter-revolutionary force will always begin with tantalizing offers of power and wealth, concessions which reactionaries fall for again and again. The power politicians and opportunists will always look to weakness first, towards exploitation without aim – thus the lure becomes a first political object.
To be able to recognise the law is to arm one's instinct and judgement, and to arm oneself against an economizing politics. We see power politics arise again, employed by democratic forces on all sides, what was learned by the absolute monarchs as technical governance is now commonplace. This more than anything else will lead us to ruin.
The sovereign individual is still possible but he must first recognise that he is alone, and he may remain alone for a long time. This is a difficult position for man, a type of exile, but it is a necessary question of power in our age. We cannot imagine that the return of heroic man will be any less painful than the death of God.

Just like the absolute monarchs the Right seeks administrators, cameralists, spies, and taxmen – a hundred names for "automatons". But none of today's men have education, talent, or experience, they simply are.
