I believe it’s ultimatel objective is to price ordinary people out of their privately owned vehicles. There’s no health benefit. Once catalytic converters were mandated to be fitted to all new vehicles many years ago, and diesel exhaust particulate filters, too, the air can’t get any cleaner and is in any case no longer injurious.
I worked on ozone and respiratory system injury in the late 1980s. We found that levels of ozone capable of producing damage was very much higher than the then prevailing levels.
Also, there isn’t one simple threshold because there’s a dynamic equilibrium between oxidant stressors in inhaled air and the availability of free radical quenching antioxidants in airway surface liquid. It’s smother case of fake science or scientism, being used to assault people’s liberty for no good reason and plenty of nefarious motives.
By the way, I slightly know Professor Frank Kelly. He was doing related work back then and it looks like he still is, despite the tide having gone out entirely on his niche field a very long time ago.
Why would he say the things he’s said about air pollution? Other colleagues at Imperial are to issue some kind of statement of disagreement with Kelly. Good on them.

Argentina is not joining BRICS, regardless of the wishes of the president Alberto Fernández and the Economy "superminister" Sergio Massa of joining BRICS to access more debt for the country, it cannot happen because such membership requires being ratified in the Congress and the Senate, both of which the current administration has no majority in either today let alone in 2 months when the elections take place and the new makeup of congress is even more right-wing.

The "full membership" date is also January 1st which is 20 days after the new administration inauguration, either Javier Milei or Patricia Bullrich, both of which have profoundly rejected the idea of joining BRICS with Milei going a step further and rejecting the regional group Mercosur and rejecting diplomatic relations with the CCP, instead recognizing Taiwan as the legitimate Chinese government again.

For the aforementioned reasons, and as I've said before, Argentina is not joining BRICS.
