❗️ The Council of Ulema of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Russia revokes the fatwa permitting religious polygamy

The Council of Ulema of the Russian Muslim Spiritual Directorate announced that it was withdrawing a fatwa permitting polygamy for Muslims due to the "reaction of Russian society" and the Prosecutor General's Office. This was stated by its chairman Shamil Alyautdinov.

Earlier, the RF Prosecutor General's Office warned about the illegality of allowing polygamy for Muslims in Russia and submitted a proposal to eliminate the violation of the law to the Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Russia. According to the department, such norms violate the Family Code of the Russian Federation. (via Readovka)

El Salvador, the first country to make bitcoin legal tender, agreed to scale back on its bitcoin-related policies. Under the $1.4B loan deal, the nation will allow businesses to voluntarily accept bitcoin as a means of payment, while ensuring that taxes will continue to be paid exclusively in U.S. dollars, rather than in BTC. For the public sector, participation in bitcoin-related activities, as well as transactions and purchases involving bitcoin, will be restricted, said the IMF.

Most of the soldiers who are being given am amnesty are Syrian sunni soldiers and officers, who made the majority of the Syrian Arab Army. Alawites made the a large portion of higher ranks, but not exclusively.


Sectarian violence is also being reported, where the tombs of Alawite elders and scholars are being burned and exhumed.
