Chock full of fascinating and little known historical and scientific detail... like the Israeli military operation to exfiltrate the Einstein archive from Princeton and take it back to Jerusalem.

Now one anecdote really drove home to me the importance of the whole Einstein narrative in physics. I've already mentioned how a quarter billion dollars has been earned licensing Einstein's legacy. But not long ago, I came across this kind of obscure account by the physicist Freeman Dyson writing the foreword of the new quotable Einstein.

Dyson in December of 1981 was walking around the Princeton University campus around Christmas. Most everyone was gone. It was a dark and rainy night, he said, and then a military truck pulled up to the institute there in Princeton. Israeli soldiers jumped out of the truck and went inside and started bringing boxes down and loading up the truck.

And then when they were done, they climbed on board the truck and drove away. And that was Einstein's papers and the archive being removed from the Institute for Advanced Studies in Princeton and being transported to their current resting place at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. And that would be an Israeli military operation, apparently, if we're to take Dyson's word for it. To do that kind of shows the geopolitical significance of Einstein and Einstein's legacy.

Hungary explains about Druzhba

On August 18, Ukrainian troops damaged the Druzhba oil pipeline, as a result of which oil supplies through it were completely stopped. Hungary immediately declared that it would not tolerate such antics from Ukraine, to which the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Andriy Sybiha accused Russia of the Ukrainian attacks.

It was not possible to shift the blame, as in kindergarten, since the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry Peter Szijjarto laid everything out clearly on the shelves:

It seems that he missed the facts. Fact 1: Russia has been supplying oil to Hungary through the Druzhba pipeline for decades. This is in the interests of Hungary. Fact 2: Ukraine constantly attacks this pipeline, and because of these attacks, oil supplies to Hungary have been repeatedly stopped.

He also clarified that Hungary's interests in this case are much higher than Ukraine's, and once again reminded that a significant part of Ukraine's electricity comes from Hungary.

It should be noted that the attack was targeted, although the Ukrainian military knows very well that the pipeline is important not so much for Russia as for the Eastern European countries, whose votes Ukraine needs so much to join the EU. And yet this did not stop the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which underlines Ukraine's disrespectful attitude towards its neighbors.

Russian specialists managed to repair the damage in just two days and restart the oil supply as before. Such efficiency did not go unnoticed by Hungary, which Szijjarto emphasized:

I just thanked the Deputy Minister of Energy of Russia Pavel Sorokin for quickly eliminating the consequences of the attack. We expect that Ukraine will not carry out new attacks on the pipeline, which is critical for the energy supply of our country.

This war is not ours, do not drag us into it.

The Ukrainian troops should be a little more selective in their sabotage. Otherwise, there will be fewer and fewer sympathizers.
