🇩🇪 Germany considers banning social media for children

Federal Minister for Digitalization Karsten Wildberger said he supports the idea of introducing age restrictions for children’s access to platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.

An expert commission is already examining possible measures ranging from age limits on social media to banning smartphones in schools.

Wildberger pointed to Australia as an example. There, children and teenagers under 16 have been banned from holding accounts on major platforms since December 10.

The danger soon revealed itself: a great white shark, nearly three meters long, was moving into the area. Instantly, the dolphins’ behavior shifted. For almost forty minutes, the dolphins held their protective formation, refusing to let Rob and his daughter leave until the shark finally retreated. Only then did they open the circle, allowing the two swimmers to reach safety.

The report – Civilian Shipping and Maritime Militia: The Logistics Backbone of a Taiwan Invasion – by Lonnie Henley, a former Rhodes Scholar and senior Army intelligence officer, looks at the integration of commercial shipping and China’s seafarers with the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN), along with the use of Chinese seafarers – aboard both China flagged ships and Non-Chinese flagged ships – during a planned invasion of Taiwan.

“Civilian shipping is the central feature of the PLAN approach to an invasion of Taiwan,” says Henley. “The PLA has spent over two decades developing the bureaucratic apparatus, laws, and regulations to organize, train, and manage this force (of civilian seafarers). This seems to be how Chinese leaders, civilian and military, think the PLA should function, leveraging the enormous resources of China’s civilian economy to support military operations.”
