TIL that the London Underground map's famous design is based on circuit diagrams. Its designer, Harry Beck, was an engineering draughtsman, and decided to strip away geographical accuracy in favour of making the links between stations as neat and readable as possible.

The draft appeal of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation to the parliaments of the countries of the world was submitted by the Vice-Speaker of the State Duma Irina Yarovaya and the Duma Committee on International Affairs.
“The Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation calls on the parliaments of countries around the world where US-controlled biological laboratories operate to give a legal and political assessment of the agreements that their national health services enter into with the US Department of Defense,” the text of the appeal reads.
