Our credibility was sacrificed on the altar of Joe's business dealings in Ukraine. The sanctions war against Russia was a catastrophe. France, Spain and Italy have withdrawn from the US-led naval alliance meant to protect freedom of navigation in the Red Sea. While each did it for different cited reasons, the result is the same.
The US had already admitted to lacking the number of warships to adequately combat the Houthis' capabilities.
This is the USA under Joe Biden. Big words, little action. The actions it does muster to take are ridiculous to begin with, so maybe this is for the better. America's authority and credibility are close to zero.

Not only does it force companies to carry cargo using much longer routes (or lanes, for you marine enthusiasts), but it raises insurance prices as well. Since America now doesn't produce anything apart from fiat currency, the impact is likely to become more severe as time passes.
This is in addition to US troops constantly being harassed by drone attacks from Iran's proxies (that used to be our proxies, but then acquired their own proxies, so they can be proxies for someone else...).
