❗️Nationwide protests erupt across US after ICE shooting as Trump administration backs agency

Mass protests swept cities across the US after an ICE agent killed Renee Nicole Macklin Good during an operation in Minneapolis, sparking outrage and vigils from coast to coast. Demonstrations drew thousands in Minneapolis, New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Seattle, and other major cities, with protesters condemning the killing and opposing the administration’s expanded immigration crackdown.

In Minneapolis, marches converged near the site of the shooting, close to where George Floyd was killed in 2020, as residents demanded accountability and called for ICE to leave the city. Minneapolis Public Schools canceled classes for the rest of the week over safety concerns after reports that federal agents made arrests outside a high school. In Los Angeles, demonstrators gathered at Placita Olvera, saying immigration raids have spread fear through communities.

The Trump administration and the Department of Homeland Security claimed Macklin Good tried to strike an agent with her vehicle, a characterization disputed by videos and eyewitnesses. Vice President JD Vance defended the agent and blamed the woman for her death, pledging continued aggressive enforcement. Renee Good, a 37-year-old mother of three with no criminal history beyond a traffic ticket, was described by family as not politically active, despite official efforts to portray her as a radical.
