The Senate has adjourned until tomorrow at 1:30PM. HB2710 did not go on the board for a vote.
The House has gaveled in and is scheduled to reconsider two important election integrity measures that failed last week: SB1362 (on-site tabulation of early ballots) and SB1260 (preventing duplicate voter registrations). Additionally, HB2617 (comprehensive voter roll maintenance) is scheduled for a final vote.

The House is currently debating SB1412 in COW, a bill subject to a strike-everything amendment to prohibit the instruction of CRT in classrooms (similar to the ban that passed last session, but struck down by the supreme court due to the process by which it was enacted, not the content of the bill)

To sum up the opposition to SB1412 on the House Floor right now: they don’t know how they can teach historical events without propagandizing students with CRT. The bill prohibits assigning blame or judgement on the basis of race or ethnicity, promoting that one race or ethnic group is inherently morally or intellectually superior to another race or ethnic group, that an individual’s moral character is determined by the individual’s race or ethnicity, or that an individual, by virtue of the individual’s race, bears responsibility for actions committed by other members of the same race.

Liberal activists could not maintain decorum and began arguing with the Chair from the Gallery. The Gallery has been cleared until they can get the pro-CRT protestors removed, delaying votes on the remaining bills.

Floor has resumed. The activists were not removed, but given a final warning instead. Rep. Grantham motioned to move the previous question (which ends debate on the bill, ending the grandstanding from those opposing the bill) to take it directly to a vote.

The House has PASSED SB1260! Sponsored by Sen. Mesnard, SB1260 helps prevent duplicate voter registrations by requiring election officials, when informed that an individual is registered in another jurisdiction, to confirm with the election official in that jurisdiction and cancel the registration. Additionally, SB1260 classifies as a class 5 felony knowingly providing a mechanism for voting to a person who is registered in another state. It now heads to the Governor.

The House has PASSED SB1362! Sponsored by Sen. Mesnard, SB1362 establishes a process to allow voters to bring their early ballots to the polls on election day, show ID, sign the poll book, and then remove the ballot from the envelope and tabulate it then and there - increasing the number of voters showing up to the polls on election day and showing ID, and speeding up the tabulation process. It also has safeguards in place, requiring that the counties reconcile the number of voters who signed the poll book with the number of envelopes deposited and the number of ballots tabulated before certifying the results, ensuring back end auditability. Thank you to Sen. Mesnard for sponsoring this bill, and thanks to everyone who sent emails and signed in on RTS! It now heads to the Governor.

🚨 LEGISLATIVE ALERT 🚨
Reports coming in that Senator Gowan is refusing to hear the state budget in Appropriations Committee unless the House adds his $150 MILLION handout for woke Hollywood film companies (SB1708) to the House Rules agenda.
Conservatives have thus far successfully held this bill off, but it appears Senator Gowan now wants to hold the state hostage in order to help woke Hollywood elites.
Leadership in the House and Senate is currently trying to push a budget deal with Democrats which will include more tax increases, massive pay hikes for all state employees, billions for Green New Deal transit projects, and other Build Back Broke Proposals.
Tell YOUR lawmakers to VOTE NO on the DEMOCRAT budget and PASS A REPUBLICAN BUDGET instead!

Sen. Gowan openly admitting that he is holding up the budget to save “other bills” when everyone knows he means film tax credits. He’s willing to grind the government to a halt for hundreds of millions in taxpayer subsidies for woke Hollywood elites. By the way, the state can’t even afford this! Budget projections in the out year has a structural surplus of just $26 million. Price tag on SB1708 is $150 million.
We should all thank Rules Chairman Grantham for standing firm against this Build Back Broke bill.

After moving 3 budget bills this morning, the Senate Appropriations Committee has recessed indefinitely due to House Leadership Members going back on a promise to push forward some important Senate budget bills, including the continuation of @AZRegents. @DavidGowanAZ…
“The proposed budget deal includes hundreds of millions in new spending, subsidies for Hollywood liberals to make movies, tax hikes for a Green New Deal transit plan in Maricopa County and special interest pork to buy Democrat votes,” said Mussi. “We should be working toward a budget that has full Republican support, not a Build Back Broke budget supported by Democrats.”
