—☢️🇭🇷 /🇧🇦 NEW: Croatia’s parliament has adopted a special law to build a radioactive waste management and disposal center at the Čerkezovac site on Trgovska Gora, with 77 MPs voting in favor, 36 abstaining and 21 opposing, paving the way for long‑term storage…
The law also sets out the conditions for conducting an environmental impact assessment at the Čerkezovac site and permits construction of the facility if the project is found to be environmentally acceptable.
Croatia, however, faces a complex dilemma. While it receives approximately 16 per cent of its electricity from the nuclear power plant in neighbouring Slovenia, it is responsible for managing 50 per cent of the plant’s nuclear waste.
The affected area is predominantly Bosnian—around 70 per cent—while roughly 30 per cent lies within Croatia. The Una River, which would be most at risk if nuclear waste were improperly managed, is shared by both countries, making the potential environmental consequences a transboundary concern.
Croatia could ignore BiH as it has so far, but that would open up avenues via international courts and local backlash. Not to mention, you're leaving dirty bomb material at the feet of Muslims. I'm surprised no one thought about the long term consequences of that.

🇹🇷🇬🇷⚡️Greece – Turkey: The rift in the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean resurfaces again!
Despite recent optimism expressed by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis about holding the Greece–Turkey Supreme Cooperation Council in early 2026, tensions have resurfaced following Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan’s speech in the Turkish National Assembly. Fidan reaffirmed Ankara’s revisionist positions on the Aegean, the Eastern Mediterranean, Cyprus, and the minority in Thrace, rejecting Athens’ stance that the sole dispute is the delimitation of maritime zones (EEZ and continental shelf).
Turkey’s long-standing claims spanning territorial waters, airspace, FIR, search and rescue zones, and island sovereignty, remain central to its agenda. Athens dismisses these as unacceptable, insisting dialogue must be limited to maritime delimitation. While both sides express willingness to continue talks, consultations have stalled since late 2024, with any upcoming meetings expected to focus narrowly on cooperation in areas like migration and civil protection.
Fidan also emphasized Cyprus, calling for greater recognition of the “Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus” and the lifting of embargoes, while Turkish media accused Greece, Cyprus, and Israel of encircling Ankara’s interests. He further raised the issue of the minority in Thrace, framing it as a matter of reciprocity with the Greek minority in Constantinople, an interpretation Athens rejects under the Treaty of Lausanne.
Although rhetoric remains sharp, the confrontation is unlikely to escalate significantly in the near term, given pending diplomatic initiatives and U.S. efforts to prevent new flashpoints in the region.

—🇹🇷 NEW: Turkish media report that the corruption trial of jailed former Istanbul mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, President Erdogan’s main political rival, is scheduled to open on 9 March 2026 and could run for 12.5 years, with prosecutors seeking more than 2,000 years in prison on over 140 graft and organised crime charges.
➡️ Opposition figures say they have gathered tens of millions of signatures and votes backing Imamoglu as their preferred presidential candidate, but the drawn-out court calendar would effectively keep him off the political stage for years.

Croatia has confirmed its first case of leprosy since 1993, involving an isolated, imported case of a foreign worker from Nepal. Health authorities stress there is no risk to the public, as leprosy requires prolonged, close contact to spread and is not transmitted through everyday social interactions. The patient has begun antibiotic treatment, close contacts are under monitoring, and infectivity stops quickly once treatment starts. Leprosy is fully treatable, and officials confirm this is not an outbreak or epidemic.
How utterly and deliciously poetic.

Thousands of protesters circled the former army headquarters in Serbia on Tuesday over a new law to speed its conversion into a luxury compound leased to an investment company founded by U.S. President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner.
Jared Kushner’s investment ambitions in the Balkans are running into political turbulence. His firm, Affinity Partners, abandoned plans for a luxury hotel and Trump Tower in Belgrade after sustained protests, legal controversy, and the indictment of a Serbian official tied to the project. Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić blamed activists, calling it a missed opportunity.
In contrast, Kushner is moving forward with a $1.4 billion luxury resort and marina on Albania’s Sazan Island, a former military base. The project is a flagship investment for Prime Minister Edi Rama, who sees it as key to transforming Albania into a high-end tourist destination. However, it is unfolding amid sweeping corruption probes targeting senior officials, major infrastructure projects, and the nearby Vlora airport meant to support the resort.
Despite investigations and governance concerns, Albanian officials insist Kushner’s project will proceed and could improve the country’s global image and attract further foreign investment. Critics and opposition figures say the investment’s success depends on transparency, as Albania continues to grapple with corruption while trying to rebrand itself as a stable destination for international capital.

Serbia and the European Union have signed a €219.9 million Financing Agreement under the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA III) for 2025–2027. Of the total amount, €139.4 million is a non-repayable EU contribution, while Serbia will provide an additional €80.5 million.
The agreement was signed by Serbia’s National IPA Coordinator Mira Radenović Bojić and European Commission official Valentina Superti. Officials emphasized that the funding supports Serbia’s EU accession path by strengthening democratic institutions, improving public services, and advancing key reforms.
Funds will "focus" on the rule of law, good governance, economic development, anti-corruption efforts, crime prevention (including environmental crime), human rights protection, legal aid for displaced persons, and alignment with EU regulations. Additional priorities include support for small and medium-sized enterprises, local development, science, innovation, digital transformation, and protection of vulnerable groups and farmers.

I swear - everywhere you look, there's pedophiles in government. Between 2004 - 2016, the director of the Kossuth Zsuzsa Children's Home in Bicske, János Vásárhelyi forced 10 minors to perform oral sex. In 2016, one of the youths committed suicide. Another…
Recent YouTube videos have exposed physical abuse of minors in Hungary’s state-run juvenile facilities. Opposition leader Péter Magyar released a government report detailing over 3,000 child abuse cases ranging from sexual to physical in nature while in state care, prompting mass protests in Budapest.
The issue echoes a 2024 scandal that led to President Katalin Novák’s resignation after she pardoned an accomplice to sexual child abuse. The judge who assisted Novak in that cover up was Peter Magyar's wife at the time.
While Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has condemned the abuses, the government’s long-term response and the political impact ahead of next spring’s election remain uncertain.
On one hand, this is a clear attempt to dislodge Orban by Eurocentric politicians who see Orban as an obstacle.
On the other, there was a real cover up by members of Orban's government to hide sexual and physical abuse of children in state care.

In The Laws, Plato argued that capital punishment was justified in limited cases: for “incurable” criminals whose souls were beyond reform, as a civic purging and deterrent; for grave offenses that irreparably harmed the state, such as murder, sexual abuse, temple theft, child abuse or treason; and for persistent heresy, after failed reeducation.
Plato viewed execution as the “least of evils,” benefiting both the city and, paradoxically, the irredeemable offender by ending a life of escalating vice.
