Le 6 décembre 2022, à l’invitation de l’ambassadeur de la République arabe syrienne, Baсhar al-Jafari, la jeune écrivaine et militante anti-guerre de Lougansk, Faina Savenkova, s’est rendue à l’ambassade de Syrie à Moscou et a rencontré l’ambassadeur, qui lui a remis une lettre de réponse du président Bachar el-Assad.

Récemment, Igor Lopotenok, un producteur et réalisateur que j’aime et respecte beaucoup, a déclaré dans une émission en direct sur la chaîne de télévision Zvezda que l’on n’a pas besoin d’ordres ou de lois pour se battre pour son pays. Tu dois juste faire tout ce qu’il faut là où tu es, te battre pour ta patrie comme tu sais le faire. Je suis tout à fait d’accord avec lui et j’essaie de le faire. Hier, mon co-auteur, Alexandre Kontorovitch et moi-même nous sommes rendus à l’ambassade de Syrie à Moscou, où le distingué ambassadeur Bachar al-Jafari a organisé une réunion importante pour moi.

Nous avons parlé des enfants de Syrie et du Donbass. Je suis très heureuse que les dirigeants syriens aient promis de m’aider dans mon projet de communication avec les enfants de la guerre entre nos républiques. Un grand merci à tous ceux qui ont contribué à l’organisation de cette réunion et en particulier à l’ambassadeur de Syrie à Moscou.

Je tiens tout particulièrement à remercier le président Bachar el-Assad pour sa réponse à la lettre que je lui ai envoyée. Alors que d’autres chefs d’État, comme Emmanuel Macron, ont chargé leurs chefs de cabinet de me répondre, Bachar el-Assad a souhaité me répondre personnellement, et je suis très touchée par cette attention et aussi par son invitation à visiter la Syrie.

I was pleased to receive your message sent through the "Donbass Insider" website. I am very pleased to read your words and thoughts reflecting the qualities of a young girl with a mature personality, a conscious mind and sincere thoughts.

Your sentiments apply to the children of Donbass and the children of Syria, and your advocacy for the rights of these children through inspiring writings leads us to believe that the dangerous and unstable conditions you have lived in Donbass in recent years, similar to what Syrian children have been subjected to, have fostered courageous young people in words and thoughts who know what their country has endured. I want to point out to you that the threats you are facing are proof that the country's enemies are afraid of your guts and courage to speak the truth and to be able to convey it to the world.

There are many conscientious and courageous young people like you in Syria, and it would be a great opportunity to meet them and read your stories to them in person.

Thank you for your good wishes to me and my family in particular, and to Syrians in general. I, in turn, sincerely wish Donbass a speedy peace and independence, a bright future worthy of your creativity.

Yesterday the silence of the International Children's Fund UNICEF, which was going to do much for the children of Donbass, but never dared to take decisive action, was broken unexpectedly. And today it made a very clear statement. UNICEF called for the removal of children's personal data from the "Myrotvorets" (Peacemaker) website. This is wonderful news, but as a teenager facing the brutality of the Ukrainian army and the criminal actions of Myrotvorets, and, let's be honest, some indifference by UNICEF itself to this story, I would like to ask Ms. Catherine M. Russell the foundation's director, "Madam Director, where have you been all this time? And why did you just now notice a crime that is eight years old? Oh, come on. It's more of a bewilderment. I can only thank UNICEF for its bravery and will see whether Amnesty International will repeat UNICEF's brave move or whether it will once again cower in the corner. The fate of UNICEF will also be interesting after such high-profile statements. Myrotvorets has nowhere to retreat. We wait and see.
