The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, has arrested Garba Musa Kwankwaso, a nephew to the New Nigeria People’s NNPP, Party leader and also the Party Presidential Candidate during 2023 General Election, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, the Chairman, Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, Kano State chapter, over their alleged involvement in a drug supply fraud to the 44 local government areas.

The agency earlier picked Alhaji Mohammed Kabawa, the Permanent Secretary of the State’s Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs over the alleged multi-billion Naira drug supply scam, then went ahead to arrest others involved in the alleged deal also arrested by the commission is the Chairman of the state branch of ALGON, Abdullahi Bashir, who is also the chairman of Tarauni LGA.

President Bola Tinubu has granted approval for the reappointment of Prof. Abdurrahman Sheshe as the Chief Medical Director of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital in Kano. This renewal marks his second and final four-year term, which will commence on December 5, 2023.

He has also renewed the appointment of Prof. Yusuf Bara as the Chief Medical Director of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi, granting him a second and final four-year term.

The Federal Government has officially announced an upward review of passport fees for Nigerians residing within the country, effective from September 1st, 2024.

The fee for obtaining a 32-page passport booklet with a 5-year validity will rise from N35,000 to N50,000. While the cost of a 64-page passport booklet with a 10-year validity, previously priced at N70,000, will now be set at N100,000.
