When people think of NFTs, they usually think of digital art and a whole lot of gimmicks that skyrocketed in valuation before crashing into the dirt. What many didn’t consider is how important NFTs can be for authenticating documents.

Here are three ways NFTs solve real world challenges:

1.- Record of ownership of physical assets like cars and other high value items.
It’s much easier to sell and buy with confidence when you have an immutable ledger tracking the ownership history of something. You can buy a car or a nice watch without worrying that it was stolen and the paperwork was forged.

2.- Business records and legal documents
A common challenge is keeping track of changes and document versions. With NFTs, there is no question about this record. If you turn a legal contract into an NFT, for example, no one can claim they were operating under a different version of it.

3.- Education and professional certifications and credentials
There is a big problem around the world with people using fake credentials and certifications to get advantages in business and in job searches. If these credentials were issued as easily authenticated NFTs, the ability to “fake it till you make it” would dry up almost overnight.
