PSA: Telegram is now censoring audio files for "copyright infringement" to be in some "accordance with google policies".

I was not informed of this for some time since I use the non-google apk.

If you find that some files have been replaced with a message, saying "This message couldn't be displayed on your device due to copyright infringement"

Then you must download the Telegram APK directly from the Telegram website (https://telegram.org/), NOT from the google play store.

is this legit?

i know on applethings it censors content from certain channels and stuff, but on android too now...

also my personal recomendation, wheter or not this is true at the moment, would be to install telegram foss. even more, install f-droid, is an app store for open source apps, and then from there install telegram foss, it will autoupdate and stuff

that fork of telegram also removes some of the excess of google things that the normal app has. no i am not being paid to promote them lol

not on all channels or stuff, but the fact that the message/dialog exists should be enough to be worring

-i install some windows iso that i had somewhere
-windows update decides i need to have adobe flash player, so it autodownloads it. because yes. i dont have a saying and i cant say no
-installs some other updates, then reboots
-windows update decides i need to update my adobe flash player and then remove it. because that is without any doubt the best course of action

starting to see why they reccomend clean installs of windows everytime they do big updates instead of just updating it. holy fsm.
