The reason I'm posting this now is because a 7 figure wallet just randomly dumped 20 ETH into it in one clip. This isn't particularly insightful but interesting enough to mention. I'm going to provide a very rough analysis on a token I literally just discovered and am researching as we speak called Whirl

$WHIRL

Analysis

Put simply, Whirl is a dApp for anonymous transactions. It's core USP is privacy / anonymity when moving funds. Their product intends to allow users to move funds anonymously between multiple chains, in any desired amount, with a single transaction.

None of the above really matters. The USP is decent and useful in theory, but we're trading in the midst of a zeitgeist that has normalized launching "buy token now, use product later when we build it" utility tokens to the extreme and what you need to know about these projects is that they usually benefit seed round participants, private sale buyers, LBP buyers etc far more than people that actually buy the token on launch. Half the time the product never sees the light of day.

As a result, when I see on chain launches like this the majority of my analysis and due diligence revolves around the above and attempting to distinguish projects with legitimate potential and a material product from projects where seed investors will dump on me for 20x on day one.

As I said, I literally just found this token. But I've decided to keep my eye on it and punt 2 ETH in because of something I noticed while scanning their Twitter.

In the roadmap thread that was posted a few days prior to launch, Whirl mapped out a few next steps following TGE and what we can expect. What's interesting to me is that the timeline given for actual product rollout kicks off immediately post-TGE and seems to also detail MVP feature inclusion to some degree of specificity, making me think that perhaps the core functionality of this product will already be live and accessible at launch and that the devs actually have something ready to ship. This sounds like the bare minimum you'd expect but honestly recently so many things have launched that are 100% "coming soon" and that throw dates out at least a few weeks from TGE that this is surprising to me.

So here is my thesis in very simple terms.

I think there is a chance that people will price this token as a typical on-chain vaporware "product soon" launch that will nuke very hard and that the token will reprice as they ship rapidly because there is an actual product ready to ship that's further along than what most on chain launches have brought to the table in the past month or two. If this is the case, I would assume it means that the developers care about their project on a longer timescale which hopefully means that they've done a good job at establishing terms and curating a seed round cap table that isn't infested with certified dumpers. That's the bull thesis I am beginning to form.

I think there is also a chance that the above may not pan out smoothly, as well as a chance that even if it does perhaps investor terms are egregiously in favor of early investors and we end up seeing so much sell pressure that no matter what they ship we go down a bit before we go up at all. I don't really know, since I don't know who's backed this and what the terms were as of right now. That's the bear thesis I am beginning to form.

My takeaway at the end of the day is that this is at least worth keeping an eye on, especially if they end up seeing substantial adoption considering that revenue share is slated for the first week following launch. I punted 2 ETH at 0.20 to have exposure because I like to have exposure to new things in current market conditions. That does not mean you should to, but it's worth looking at in my opinion. Proceed with caution.

According to someone in t.me/thectrlroom vesting terms are a 5 month linear vest with a 1 month cliff.

For those of you that are unfamiliar this would mean that 0 tokens unlock for the first month, which would be very bullish on the above because my biggest tailrisk here was sell pressure from the successful seed round. This is a trade and not a long term conviction play, so I don't intend to hold my bags for a month without seeing profits. We're already up 2X and this is probably why because if there was no cliff we would see some big sells by now.

Reducing risk assessment here to 7/10.
