@John_A_Ridge @GBU39SDB @JamesRaxz: This is very normal, at least for solid fueled missiles. My understanding is that they just inspect them and if everything looks good they will certify them for a longer period, without any SLEP.

🚨🇺🇲🇩🇪 BREAKING: The US State Department has approved a possible Foreign Military Sale to Germany of 600 PATRIOT Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) MSE missiles, plus associated equipment and services for an estimated cost of $5 billion.
The prime contractor would be Lockheed Martin. Any possible offset agreements will be negotiated between Germany and LM.
The denoscription and dollar value are for the highest estimated quantity and dollar value based on initial requirements. Actual dollar value will be lower depending on final requirements, budget authority, and signed sales agreement(s), if and when concluded.
The unit price for PAC-3 MSE is ~$4 million.

PGK replaces the standard fuze of unguided 155mm artillery shells and turns them into precision guided munitions.
The prime contractor would be Northrop Grumman. Any possible offset agreements would be registered between Denmark & NG.
The denoscription and dollar value are for the highest estimated quantity and dollar value based on initial requirements. Actual dollar value will be lower depending on final requirements, budget authority, and signed sales agreement(s), if and when concluded.

The Italian Air Force already operates MQ-9 and recently upgraded that existing fleet to Block 5 standard via a previous FMS case.

@druzhe_orest: Germany is buying them for the Luftwaffe but nothing precludes them from submitting Third Party Transfer requests in the future. These won't be delivered for many years though.
