Initial reports of some type of arcing insulator. This is the transport train that Members of Congress use to move from the U.S. Capitol to other government buildings. All fire is knocked down. 🚨🇺🇸BREAKING: MASSIVE FIRE ERUPTS ON CONTAINER SHIP IN L.A., 100+ FIREFIGHTERS DEPLOYED, 6 CREW MISSING
Fire erupted aboard the "1 Henry Hudson" Friday evening, sending 100+ firefighters racing to battle flames in multiple cargo bays containing hazardous materials.
An explosion at 7:58 p.m. knocked out power and crane operations.
Six crew members remain unaccounted for while two stayed aboard.
Fifteen were safely evacuated.
Incident Command banned firefighters from going below deck due to extreme danger from hazmat cargo.
Marine units are cooling the ship's exterior while crews in full protective gear battle the blaze from above.
The vessel remains stable despite massive water volume being pumped aboard.
Mayor Bass:
"The city is fully mobilized and working with our partners at the port to ensure safety"
