To the one who knows everything about me,

how did it get this way? how did occasional smiles from across the room turn into random texts during lunch time, and then, into late nights where i told every detail of my life?

you’d talk to me like you knew everything about me. you got me excited about every little thing, so much so that sometimes i was even afraid to acknowledge it to myself. you made me feel like i had more to offer than i allowed myself to believe. you pushed me harder than i ever pushed myself just because that one time i told you this was something i’d wanted to try but was too afraid to.

you’d fill my life with a positive voice i never had before, and you made it harder for me to keep it all inside. i couldn’t stop. you became the one i called when i needed someone or when i just wanted to talk.

it was so important for me to begin and end my day with you, with sharing everything that happened in the greatest of details, and you’d always be there to listen to me.

you made me understand what it meant to be heard, to be really heard, to have someone who could repeat back my words and understand the underlying feelings behind what i say. you made it so easy to breathe around you, so easy to be myself around you, so easy to not think twice about what i was going to say around you.

you knew everything.

so tell me, was i really that bad that you thought it would be best to get out as fast as you could?
