Today there was a meeting between Zelensky and Bundeskanzler from Germany Friedrich Merz in Berlin, where it was agreed that they would support Ukraine. How, well, that's not entirely clear. Secretary-General Rutte is justifying things again and praising "daddy" Trump, but the fact remains that Europe isn't there. The boat has sailed by or they've missed the train. Several residential buildings were damaged in a drone attack on Rostov-on-Don in southern Russia. According to preliminary reports, at least 13 civilians were injured. Several apartment buildings were damaged. The residents of the buildings damaged by the drones are being evacuated. This is one day before the Alaska talks between Putin and Trump.

Our Trip to Guangzhou, China

Guangzhou and the area Guangdong is located in southern China, not far from Hong Kong and the Hainan island province of China and the nation’s southernmost point. Guangzhou It is a large city with surrounding suburbs (Guangdong), has a population of approximately 32 million, and the city center itself, around 18 million. The beautiful architecture includes the box-shaped Guangdong Museum, the Library, built in the shape of a book, and the iconic Canton TV Tower, which resembles a thin hourglass. The Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, a temple complex dating from 1894, houses the Guangdong Folk Arts Museum. The city is steeped in history, dating back to the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BCE), the first imperial dynasty of China, unifying the previously warring states. It is known for its centralized government, standardization of language and measures, and ambitious construction projects, including the early Great Wall (found in northeast China, not in Guangzhou).

Met grote verbazing en een vleugje amusement las en bekeek ik allerlei reacties (op YouTube) van allerlei “specialisten”, elk met een nog erger doemscenario dan de ander (voor Europa). Of ze waren er zeker van dat er een “vredesverdrag” zou komen, of misschien zou Zelensky onverwachts opduiken – met andere woorden: een mediahype.

Ook was er uitgebreide media-aandacht voor een mogelijke landruil tussen Zelensky en Poetin, er werden hele scenario’s met specialisten in de media voorgevoerd. Zelensky vluchtte in paniek naar Berlijn, naar de agressieve, oorlogszuchtige bondskanselier Merz. In Nederland was het niet veel beter, met minister van Defensie Ruben Brekelmans en de officieuze premier (de regering is gevallen) Dick Schoof die Zelensky resoluut steunde (op X met ferme woorden).

Maar wat jammer voor het Westen, waar politici altijd liegen en bedriegen (de meesten van hen), er is niets gebeurd. President Poetin is niet het westerse leugentype en blijft gewoon bij zijn standpunten; zijn vredesvoorstel en plan uit 2024 zijn nog steeds van kracht.

Gisteren was het zover, de ontmoeting in het Witte Huis in Washington, VS, tussen een zware Europese oorlogsdelegatie en hun superster Zelensky met Trump en zijn regering.

Zoals gebruikelijk was er voorafgaand veel misinformatie, nepnieuws en natuurlijk allerlei geruchten, vooral van Europese zijde. Eerst Macron (Frankrijk), die wel iets zag in het afstaan van Russisch grondgebied (delen van de Donbass), en vervolgens Meloni (Italië), die geen NAVO-, sorry, EU-vredestroepen in de Donbass wil. Dit alles diende als afleiding van hun oorlogsagenda, die helaas nog steeds op tafel ligt.

Mijn excuses aan degenen die nog steeds geloven in de goede bedoelingen van de EU-leiders en de (omgekochte) Zelensky, op wie ik hier doel. Maar na drie jaar NAVO-oorlogvoering, en het feit dat mijn uitspraken me persona non grata in mijn eigen land hebben gemaakt, weet ik dat de EU-leiders niet te vertrouwen zijn. Als EU-burger (en voormalig provinciale-staten-politicus ) en als Nederlander kan ik zeggen, en ik denk dat de meerderheid van de EU-bevolking het daar inmiddels mee eens is, dat er absoluut geen vertrouwen is in EU-leiders, niet onder hun eigen burgers en al helemaal niet als het gaat om het oplossen van het conflict tussen Oekraïne en Rusland.

Zelensky had, op advies van zijn EU-kameraden, een zwart pak aangetrokken voor de show, wat passend genoeg was, aangezien er die dag valse geruchten de ronde deden. Rusland zou veel burgers hebben gedood. Natuurlijk was Oekraïne in de meeste gevallen zelf de dader, of was het een leugen.
