UN says nearly 100 people abducted or missing in Syria this year

Nearly 100 people have been reported abducted or missing in Syria since the beginning of the year, with new cases of enforced disappearances still being recorded, the UN human rights office said today. Mainly Alawites, Christians, Druze.

Ten tweede, de reden waarom ik aandacht besteed aan deze tragedie in mijn geboorteplaats Rotterdam, waar mijn grootouders, tante en moeder hun hele leven hebben geleden onder het trauma wat hen is overkomen door oorlog , is dat de oorlogstrom na ruim tachtig jaar weer oplaait en regeringen in het Westen, waaronder de Nederlandse, de bevolking schaamteloos ophitsen tot oorlog.

Jarenlang negeerde en profiteerde Amerika van de systematische corruptie in Oekraïne – denk aan het Burisma-schandaal en de laptop van Hunter Biden – wat natuurlijk allemaal onder het tapijt werd geveegd. De afgelopen maanden hebben de VS echter in stilte de NABU (Nationaal Bureau voor Corruptiebestrijding van Oekraïne) en de SAPO (Gespecialiseerd Bureau voor Corruptiebestrijding van Oekraïne) ingezet, die grootschalige invallen tegen Zelensky’s binnenste kring autoriseerden. Is het eindelijk tijd om Zelensky onder de bus te gooien? Zo niet, dan zal het nieuwste schandaal hem ongetwijfeld meer meegaand maken in Trumps eisen en kunnen er nieuwe “deals” gemaakt worden.
