Hard to find solid confirmation
What I do know:
+ Generally — telegram re-encodes all regular photos you see in groups or channels (Which i susually pretty annoying, because it lowers the resolution = NO RISK
+ BUT, “file” attachments — telegram supposedly leaves as-is, so if you view those = HIGH RISK
+ And profile photos? Not sure. — Could be that telegram doesn’t re-encode those, and viewing those could allow you to be exploited = UNKNOWN RISK
