🌚 Flight to the Moon //
NASA is preparing to send the tiny satellite Cislunar Autonomous Positioning System Technology Operations and Navigation Experiment (CAPSTONE) on an unexplored trajectory around the Moon that could one day become the orbiting home for astronauts on a planned lunar space station called Gateway.
CAPSTONE will test a zone known as the near rectilinear halo orbit (NRHO) - a path around the Moon created by the gravitational pull of the Earth, the Moon, the Sun and Jupiter. It is a perfect fit for Artemis, NASA's ambitious programme to send humans to the Moon this decade.

📑 A Controversial Deal //
Thomas Kurian, head of Google's cloud division, said the company's work with oil giant Saudi Aramco was unrelated to oil production, giving the first public comments in an interview with Bloomberg TV.
In 2020, Google, owned by Alphabet Inc, announced plans to expand its cloud business in Saudi Arabia, agreeing with Saudi Aramco to resell Google's cloud services to customers in the country.
Critics of Google believe that the partnership with the oil and gas company runs counter to the company's ambitious goals of reducing carbon dioxide emissions. In addition, Saudi Arabia is often criticised for failing to respect human rights. In this regard, the activist group SumOfUs will make a proposal to publish a human rights assessment of the data centre in Saudi Arabia at Alphabet's shareholder meeting on 1 June.
Earlier this month, Saudi Aramco overtook Apple Inc. to become the world's most valuable company.

🔐 Meta Changes Privacy Policy //
Recently the company has produced a new revision of its Terms of Service and updated its privacy policy.
The revision does not bring much change, but rather modifies the language and adds examples to help people understand what each segment is about.
Publishing this revision, Meta said that it “is not collecting, using or sharing your data in new ways based on this policy update and we still do not sell your information.”
The new policy applies to Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and other Meta products, but not WhatsApp, Workplace, Messenger Kids, or Quest devices used without a Facebook account (those have their own privacy policies).

🏃♂️ Indian Startup Founders Flock to Dubai //
Recently many Indian entrepreneurs have emigrated to the UAE using its golden visa program, which offers five- and 10-years residency to investors, entrepreneurs, researchers, medical professionals, and outstanding students.
Indian consultants say this is due to heavy regulations on new technologies in the country. India currently charges a 30% tax on any income generated from cryptocurrencies and starting July it will also levy a 1% charge on transfer of digital assets — the first of its kind in the world. Indian entrepreneurs have also been dealing with the issues of double taxation on employee stock ownership plan
This trend could have a long-term impact on India, especially the country’s startup ecosystem that was slowly built over the last decade and became one of the top 20 global startup hubs in the world.

A survey of 400 senior executives conducted by consulting firm Gartner revealed that business executives are quiet ambivalent towards embracing the metaverse. They do not think it will help their companies and rather see AI and environmental sustainability as ways to improve their performance.
“In the past, some CEOs have embraced new technology ideas perhaps a little too enthusiastically. In the case of the metaverse, however, it’s doubtful the respondents who think it very likely to be a key technology for their business are as confident as they appear to be," says Mark Raskino, research vice president at Gartner.

🛰 Utilities Through Space //
The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has signed a memorandum of understanding with French global satellite operator Eutelsat to provide technical support for the DEWA Space-D programme and the DEWA 3U DEWA-SAT1 nanosatellite. This will help develop Internet of Things (IoT) nano-satellite terminals and improve communication between DEWA's assets and its nano-satellite.
The two organisations will design, develop and implement the first use case at DEWA's Research and Development (R&D) Centre, combining the use of IoT sensors and Eutelsat ELO satellites, and will develop use cases for utility sector development around the world.
DEWA was the first utility in the world to use nanosatellites to improve the maintenance and planning of electricity and water networks.
Previously, the company was able to save 2.2 terawatt hours of electricity and 5.6 million imperial gallons (25,4 million litres) of water.
