🏃‍♂️ Indian Startup Founders Flock to Dubai //

Recently many Indian entrepreneurs have emigrated to the UAE using its golden visa program, which offers five- and 10-years residency to investors, entrepreneurs, researchers, medical professionals, and outstanding students.

Indian consultants say this is due to heavy regulations on new technologies in the country. India currently charges a 30% tax on any income generated from cryptocurrencies and starting July it will also levy a 1% charge on transfer of digital assets — the first of its kind in the world. Indian entrepreneurs have also been dealing with the issues of double taxation on employee stock ownership plan

This trend could have a long-term impact on India, especially the country’s startup ecosystem that was slowly built over the last decade and became one of the top 20 global startup hubs in the world.

In the case of the metaverse, however, it’s doubtful the respondents who think it very likely to be a key technology for their business are as confident as they appear to be," says Mark Raskino, research vice president at Gartner.

🌅 NFTs Help Get Out of Prison //

The Children of Women Prisoners Association (CFPA), an Egyptian organisation that helps women and promotes legal reform, has agreed to partner with creative collective Horizon FCB Dubai to raise funding as well as awareness outside the country about the plight of women through NFT.

There are thousands of cases in Egypt where poor debtors, called gharemat, are unable to meet their obligations for whatever reason. And as a result, they end up behind bars. The amounts can usually be small, but the law provides for a prison sentence of up to three years.

The Emirati collective is asking international artists to create NFTs to sell them for the amount it will cost to pay off the women's debts and release them from prison. However, the main aim of this project is to raise awareness outside Egypt.
