Asia remains the world’s largest destination for direct investment, attracting around $605B in 2024.

ASEAN alone pulled in roughly $230B in FDI in 2023 (about 17% of global inflows) driven by manufacturing, digital services, and infrastructure.

Growth, demographics, and industrial expansion make these regions magnets for long-term capital.

🔘 Persian Gulf & MENA

The Gulf has become a center of long-term capital.

Sovereign wealth funds such as Public Investment Fund (PIF), Mubadala, Qatar Investment Authority, and ADQ have consistently ranked among the most active global investors.

By 2025, Gulf funds accounted for about 43% of global SWF deal activity, while total sovereign wealth assets worldwide reached roughly $15T.

This region now channels capital into technology, infrastructure, real estate, and energy on a global scale.

🔘 Africa: High Risk, High Conviction

FDI inflows rose by around 75% in 2024, reaching a new all-time high, mostly caused by energy and infrastructure projects.

This doesn’t mean Africa is safe now. It means capital is increasingly willing to accept country risk in exchange for access to resources and long-term growth.

🔘 Developed Markets: Stability + Private Credit

Still, the US and Europe remain anchors, supported by deep liquidity, strong institutions, and dollar dominance.

But global FDI fell by 11% in 2024, with developed markets among the hardest hit.

At the same time, private credit is exploding:

📈 Estimated to approach $3T by 2025
📈 Nearly $600B placed in 2024 alone (+78% YoY)
