I don't think it's ok to trace without giving proper credit and source material. I do think it's bad and pretty wrong to copy someone else's idea and composition and never give proper credit.

And remember, what I'm about to say next is not to defend anyone. I still do believe the person in question was in the wrong for not giving credit. That is all valid and true.

If you're a beginner artist whose just starting out, and wants to learn basic anatomy or face shapes or anything of that matter but cannot grasp the fundamentals, you can trace for the time being as you learn it. There is no shame in that. It's to easily grasp and learn better and we're literally meant to observe and copy the things we like, so I think that when you're beginning as an artist and haven't had a good grasp of the fundamentals yet there is 0 shame in tracing IF. IF. YOU GIVE PROPER CREDIT.

And I'm not saying this as just some new guy. I've been in the art community for a long ass time. I've studied art. I'm a digital artist myself. I've been practicing and drawing art for a long time now. So I'm saying this with years worth of experience and analysis of different artists progress and art growth. I'm not just pulling shit out of my ass here.

If there's an art style you really want to learn and be good at, it's absolutely ok to try and trace that art style and learn how it got made and post it WITH PROPER CREDIT.

So I think people are mad at the wrong thing here. The message of this whole thing shouldn't be " oh this guy is tracing tracing is wrong " for fucks sake why are Iranian internet communities always four years behind other international communities. the art community has already been through this fuckass debacle. We all agreed tracing for beginner artists is absolutely fine and dandy if they give credit. Y'all are mad at the wrong thing here. The problem is that when didn't give credit and claimed it was her own original idea.

Oh and by the way

" it doesn't matter that she's 15!! " it actually absolutely fucking does. she's just a kid. There were better ways to handle this rather than literally wasting everyone's time making an entire goddamn channel just to 'cancel' her. I don't know why people are so heartless to each other. There were way better goddamn ways to tell her to just give credit to the artists she's tracing. Oh she doesn't admit to it? Ok then just have a civil goddamn conversation with her about tracing and copying, not bring an army of people way too fucking older than her suddenly shouting at her for being a fraud or a thief or bullshit like that all just because she likes creating art but doesn't know the fundamentals.
