昨天去听Danish String Quartet 听到了一首 Britten 的 3 Divertimenti for String Quartet,据说Britten当年premier的时候大家反应不热烈,但个人很喜欢这首,很多地方都很新奇,第三部分 burlesque 的能量更是无法阻挡~

Yuja Wang同学昨晚上创了历史记录了,把钢琴彻底变成竞技体育了,她一晚上在一场音乐会内把Rachmaninov的四部钢琴协奏曲加上《帕格尼尼变奏》一块演了,4个半小时,包含了大量钢琴演奏中技术最难的片段。她这场音乐会是历史性的,一百年来没人敢这么干,太耗体能了,普通人的心肺功能和核心肌群都根本达不到这个强度,更别提在这样的强度下再表达音乐了。
一般说来,一场钢琴音乐会的标准时间,一个半小时左右,两个小时就很可以了,三个小时就相当长了,比如Horowitz1965年的historical return我记得也就大概3.5小时。。结果王雨佳这场将近5小时。。真是“钢琴马拉松”。她大概会开创钢琴的“竞技体育”年代,以后想当钢琴家,得先做体能测试。

最近跟不少朋友聊起来,有没有给孩子的“音乐类读物”?推荐这本“给孩子的音乐史“。作者肚囊极其阔绰,从京剧到Wagner,从Messiaen的鸟鸣到Charlie Parker,各种音乐门类都有触及。还广泛探讨了音乐和姊妹艺术的关系,从Kandinsky到Mondrian,到Chaplin。插图精美,选乐精良。叙事方法也跟传统音乐史类著作大不相同,强烈推荐

承接之前Ching兄推荐给孩子看的古典音乐书籍,我也斗胆推荐一个最近个人很着迷的作品,1940年 Disney 出品的 Fantasia 幻想曲(一些关注我个人社交账号的朋友可能此时已遁逃😂不好意思)
与Disney 的共同创作这部作品的是大名鼎鼎的指挥家 Leopold Stokowski~据说二人是在一间餐馆偶遇,聊着聊着就开启了这样一个耗时三年多的项目。一开始 Walt 是想为 Dukas 的 The Sorcerer’s Apprentice (魔法师的学徒)做一个以米老鼠为主角的动画,不过后来在这个短片上花费过多,仅以短片发行无法收回成本,于是把这个项目扩大为了一个长片,一共九首曲目(其中最后两首连在一起)。九首曲目和他们的主要内容分别是抽象表现主义的 Bach - Toccata and Fugue in D minor, 以自然界里的花,小蘑菇,精灵等为主角的胡桃夹子,米老鼠为主角的 Dukas - The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, 讲述地球生命诞生还有恐龙灭绝的 Rite of Spring,可以展示不同乐器声音的一条线 The Sound Track, 融合了 Mussorgsky 的 Night on Bald Mountain 和 Schubert 的 Ave Maria 的光明打败黑暗的故事。
我在之前自己的博客里主要是惊叹于这部片子在动画技术上的成就,毕竟那时也没有电脑纯靠手绘,做出这样精良的画面太难了。不过除了美术以外,这部作品在音乐上也开创了先河。为了这部片子,他们发明了可能是世界上第一套立体声音响,Fantasound,管弦乐团不同的声部会被录制在不同的音轨上,放映这部电影的影院会装上特殊的设备,声音从各个地方传来,和故事有机的结合在一起。在 Walt Disney’s Fantasia 这本书里,有这样一段描述,从这段文字中可以想象出当时的观众有多么的被惊艳到:
The church bells whose pure sound reached the devil at the top of Bald Mountain sounded at the rear of the theater so realistically that the child turned around in his seat. All he saw was the rest of the audience turning around to stare at the theater’s rear wall. And then, his seven-year-old ears were dazzled as the sound of the Ave Maria chorus started at the rear of the theater and slowly and powerfully advanced to the screen speakers to join the solo voice. It was as if the spirits of the pilgrim choristers were in procession up the side aisles of the theater. Chills went up his spine.
Stokowski 本人也对 Fantasound 录音技术非常着迷,觉得他们实现了指挥家的终极梦想,书中提到
Stokowski was fascinated by the mixing board - the sound control panel. For Fantasia he recorded each section separately - strings, winds, horns, etc. - and he mixed them all himself. He said this was the ultimate in conducting: he could dial up the strings or turn down the others, getting exact mixtures of sounds. With the panel he could control the entire orchestra. That little board on the Hyperion Avenue Studio’s sound stage gave him a great sense of power.
这部作品虽然花了很长时间真正立住脚跟,名利双收,但在当时最严厉的批评来自于乐评家。他们认为给古典音乐配故事的这个想法就是错的。伯恩斯坦在 YPC 的第一集也说过音乐的“故事性”,通过给《堂吉诃德》和贝多芬的《田园交响曲》配以和作曲家本意不同的故事,说明音乐的意义并不是描述故事,对于有故事的作品,故事只是附加的。个人觉得这部作品其实对伯恩斯坦的观点进行了很好的注解,有些音乐遵循了原本的故事,但是比如胡桃夹子,Rite of Spring 和 贝多芬第六交响曲都抛弃了原本的故事,但我个人认为他们给音乐带来了新的感受,很有想象力。

晚上去听了爵士钢琴家 Hiromi 的现场,每一首都很赞~不过我个人最喜欢的是翻奏 Beatles 的 Blackbird~其实这首是有一点传统的爵士钢琴,左手很长时间一直保持着相同的和声但是右手上有着丰富的变化~而且现场的版本比起专辑版本又加了很多东西——这就是爵士现场的魅力之处了!
