الان این عکس از پاپ مرحوم رو دیدم که در سال ۲۰۰۸ در مترو گرفته شده؛ وقتی که کاردینال بود و در بوئنوس آیرس زندگی می‌کرد.
اگر به فیزیونومی اعتقاد داشتم، می‌تونستم بگم چهرۀ پاپ فرانسیس یکی از معصومانه‌ترین و عیسوی‌ترین چهره‌ها بود. چهره‌ای که گمان می‌کنم کاتولیسیسم در آغاز قرن بیست‌ویکم بهش نیاز داشت و احتمالاً دیگه مانندش به این مقام نخواهد رسید.

“You admit you poisoned the king?”

“Have you nothing to say in your defense?”


“Nothing but this: I did not do it. Yet now I wish I had.” He turned to face the hall, that sea of pale faces. “I wish I had enough poison for you all. You make me sorry that I am not the monster you would have me be, yet there it is. I am innocent, but I will get no justice here.
