What's Illyrio's motivation for his actions?
Why does he plot to put the Targaryens back on the throne? He's not even a westerosi noble, he's already rich, I fail to understand why he'd put so much efforts.

Without dragons, how would the final battle of part 8 have gone?

Writers and the show differences
I may get downvoted for this, but this is simply just my opinion.
So we all are aware and some contribute to the hate D&D got for the last seasons, but can we remember that they were the ones who wrote the seasons prior? That they were the ones who wrote your favourite scenes on screen too? They wrote the whole Tywin and Arya interactions? Believe me i dislike how they ruined and rushed some character arcs too but it gets tiring and boring seeing season 5-8 hate.
Also they never had any book material so they really just had to go off the small parts of what George told them and build from there.
You cant always expect writers for shows to make it exactly accurate to the book because they usually dont do that, they will take parts of it and add their own twists. I started the books a few weeks ago and the prologue for AGOT is still ingraved in my head and I rewatched the first episode to see how accurate it was and it was very, very different. I get that the low budget they had then was most likely one of the issues but it was still different. Thats what made me change my views (as i also disliked and made the same jokes before abt the other seasons) what i do now is just view it as an alternate universe.
I doubt the books will come, which im not annoyed about seeing the hate George Martin gets for not completing them yet which believe me if i was him i wouldnt do it because i would just get so sick and feel forced to do it if i was constantly being asked about it 😭 or maybe he’ll release them after his death like some speculate to avoid the judgement it would get either way. But the books are very different, they are much better than the show too in my opinion and theres many characters who i wouldve loved to see in the show but again shows usually tend to not go full on book accurate.
We all have different favourites, we all want the best ending for them and we would obviously feel some annoyance if we dont get that. The show ending i understand the frustration as you wouldve watched for all those years to just see a rushed ending, but atleast they found a way to make it end regardless if it was bad.
The long night was done terribly, but again what book knowledge did they have of it to go off? I could go on about this more but ill just leave it at this.

Should I watch HOTD with my roommate while he watches GOT?
For context, my roommate started GOT with his girlfriend in February of this year and they haven't even made it to the red wedding, but they insist they're still watching. He refuses to watch any episodes with me instead of his girlfriend. I at least want to watch some GOT content with him before we move out in a year or so. I thought watching HOTD would be fun but im not sure if it would ruin anything in GOT for him. I know there's no spoilers, I've seen the show, but I've never seen it before finishing GOT, you know? What do you guys think?

If Arya learned one thing from every big player she was around, what would she have learned from each of them?
For example, what did she learn from her time with Tywin?
