Finally watched Game of Thrones. Extremely memorable show and proud to have watched it.
Disclaimer: I have not read any of the books (yet), now I'm definitely tempted.
I'll start off with saying the show was good man, it really was. Even after the book content dried up, the plot kept on going and despite the poor dialogue and the removal of the GoT essence, the show was still entertaining.
I tolerated many of the bad points, the rushed pace and poor interactions, BUT.
Personally, I despised the Jon Snow reveal. All this time, I thought his entire character was being based off being a bastard, and uniting the North and the free folk. I fully expected his mother to be wildling or something, anything that still made him a "bastard". Ned Stark's character didn't needed to be destroyed by this change, could've made up any other story, either he protected another woman, or he had one fall from grace, I would've taken it any day.
I am aware the books build up to this. I am criticizing the book right here.
Why do I hate Jon being the rightful heir to the Iron Throne? It removes his character. He's always been the underdog, the one uniting people and fighting for justice, being stupidly honest just like his father and first and foremost THE bastard. It would've been the perfect underdog story, from bastard to king.
Because he had legitimacy, that made him a threat to Daenerys. He was literally forced to kill her, even if he was dishonorable (by letting her live), I doubt he would've given his life away, he broke vows to survive. The moment Daenerys spoke in Valyrian in King's Landing to her army he knew his days were numbered. If he was still a bastard, he would've only killed her for justice, better solidifying this plot point. He wouldn't do it because of better ascension.
If he's a bastard, the wheel is still broken. No other bastard ever took the throne. The final plot point still stands.
The only other ending I take with the Jon Snow reveal is a bad ending. He kills Daenerys, he poofs the Unsullied, and claims the Iron Throne. Literally the perfect ending for Game of Thrones. Even after all of this, the wheel cannot be broken, and power hungry people exist. Nothing changes, maybe he's a slightly better king, but he has many enemies just like any other Stark. The game continues.
The ending was too good to be true, it was an ending that was best for all realms. Too fairy tale like. Even with the supposed details of the novel and excellent buildup (that are yet to come), I still despise this ending. This is Game of Thrones man.
Anyway, excellent book/show, despite all of its flaws. It genuinely felt like the perfect show up until the death of Tywin Lannister. After that, it was a mess.
Proud to finally be a viewer of the show and finally join related discussion! After all these years!

First of all, i love this series and currently i am on the 3rd season, episode 9 to be exact . But what the fuckk😭🙏🏻 I just witnessed the most traumatic episode of my whole life.
In the 1st season they killed Ned, the character that i thought will be the center of the whole story. Sure he died, I couldn’t complain. I came with an understanding, maybe they wanted the young Starks like Jon and Robb to be the stars of the show
The second season went well, i’d say. But WHY they made Theon betrayed the Starks🙂?
THE 3RD SEASON IS THE MOST FUCKED-UP, yet. They made you love The King in the North and his Queen, as well as Lady Stark. And they killed them in the most brutal way🙂.

Why are people so mad about Dany?
I used to be. I used to think they ruined the show. I know the writing wasn't as good in the final season but on my rewatch I can actually see it. I can see where she starts going mad. I can see Tyrion trying to keep her in check. After watching Missandei get killed, Rhaegal and Viserion, finding out her claim to the throne is a lie, Jorah dying. I can see the madness truly take hold when she has no advisor beside her to stop her when she begins to burn Kings Landing. It's not the ending we wanted but I don't know why people want it redone. I'd rather have answers about the weird symbols from the WW or why they wanted Bran.
