Android 14 QPR1 Beta program 'will kick off the week of September 18th'.
Android 14 isn't out yet, but Google has already announced the beta test start date for the first Quarterly Platform Release, which is due for release in December. Android 14 QPR1 Beta 1 will include the latest bug fixes and stability and performance improvements. And here are a few warnings:
❗️If you don't want to participate in the Android 14 QPR1 beta testing, you need to exit the beta program by September 18. When you do, you'll receive an update notification with a downgrade to Android 13 with data loss. Don't apply it until Android 14 (UP1A) is officially released.
❗️If you exit the beta test now, updating to stable Android 14 (UP1A) (when it comes out) will not erase your data.
❗️If you upgrade to the Android 14 QPR1 beta, the next opportunity to leave the beta without losing your data won't come until December.

Google Photos will soon add support for Android 14's native Share sheet.
One of the key changes in Android 14 is a new system share sheet where app developers can embed their own shortcuts. The first Google app to get support for this feature was Google Chrome, and Google Photos is next in line.
Android 14 share sheet will replace the current app bottom sheet, and it will include a preview of the image(s) or video (with a video icon) with 4 shortcuts from Google Photos underneath:
• Create Link
• Send in Photos (in the Google Photos Conversations)
• Add to Album
• Create Album
The "Modify" button on the top right allows you to select additional images.
When Google is going to roll this out to all users is not yet known.

Android now shows battery information in settings! You can now go to Settings > About phone > Battery information to see the manufacture date and cycle count of your device’s battery. Not every device will report this info, though.
Sadly, this page doesn’t show the battery stat that I think most of you are interested in: the state of health, ie. the remaining estimated full charge capacity relative to the rated capacity in %.

When you connect a Bluetooth device in Android 14 QPR1 Beta 1, you can now choose its “audio device type”. You can choose between Speaker, Headphones, Car Kit, Hearing Aid, or Other.
This could be helpful if you’re using a Bluetooth device that isn’t properly recognized, as the “spatial audio” toggle, for example, only appears when the audio device type is set to “Headphones”.
