New details about the Google Pixel Watch. The first look at the magnetic charging cable. The same Follower this time provided us with promotional materials Google Pixel Watch from the same site of the Taiwan mobile Carrier (no longer available). Again,…
Unlike the first gen of the watch, which used inductive charging, the Pixel Watch 2 charger appears to have 4 charging pins. So it looks like you won't be able to use the charger from the first gen to charge the second gen and vice versa. Whether that's true or not, we'll see at the presentation.
It will cost $29 to buy the extra charger.

Android 14 QPR1 Beta program 'will kick off the week of September 18th'. Android 14 isn't out yet, but Google has already announced the beta test start date for the first Quarterly Platform Release, which is due for release in December. Android 14 QPR1 Beta…
A few clarifications about upgrading to stable Android 14 from the beta.
I see quite a few questions in the comments, so I thought I'd clarify a few details. First, you need to check which build you are on. You can do this by going to Settings > About phone and scrolling to the very bottom.
1) Your build is UPB5.230623.009 (Android 14 Beta 5.3) — To get a stable release of Android 14 you need to exit the beta test on the website (if you haven't already) and wait for the update. Then you will upgrade to stable Android 14 without data loss.
* Owners of Pixel 4a 5g, and Pixel 5 don't need to do this as this was the last beta program for them. So just wait for the update.
2) Your build is U1B1.230908.003 (Android 14 QPR1 Beta 1) - Unfortunately, to get to the stable Android 14 release you will have to say goodbye to your data. You have been warned about this. The closest window to move to the stable channel without losing your data is in early December, when stable Android 14 QPR1 will be released.
If you are still ready to say goodbye to data being on U1B1.230908.003 (Android 14 QPR1 Beta 1), then you also need to exit the beta test on the website and wait for the update or manually flash the factory image.
*Android 14 QPR1 Beta 1 contains more features than the stable Android 14 release, so consider whether you need it that much.

A demo of how the Pixel 8 Pro's thermometer works.
One of Google's strangest decisions was to build a thermometer into the 8 Pro. At the current stage, it can measure the temperature of surrounding objects, while measuring human skin temperature is limited until the company gets approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Owners of the flagship will have access to a separate Thermometer app. In it, you can select the material to measure to get the most accurate readings. Available options include Default, Food & organic, Beverages & water, Cast iron, Ceramic & glass, Matte metal, Shiny metal, Plastic & rubber, Fabric, Wood, and Walls & windows.
To use, you need to aim the sensor "within 5 cm of the object for best results". This will display a pulsing icon approximately where the thermometer is actually located.
Accuracy may vary depending on the material selected, the distance to the object, and at temperatures approaching -20°C and 150°C.

The Pixel 8’s generative AI wallpaper feature is SO COOL!
You can create brand new wallpapers that nobody else has ever seen just by choosing a few topics and colors from some preset options. While you can’t go wild with custom prompts, you still have a ton of choice!
After you create and apply a wallpaper, it’s saved to your device so you can change to it at any time. You can also tap the pencil icon to modify the prompt used to generate it.
The wallpapers you generate have metadata added to them that lists the AI wallpaper version, the prompt used to generate it, the transform matrix, and a “credit” line that says “AI-generated with Google.”
Under the hood, Google’s generative AI wallpaper app uses an AI-generated text-to-image diffusion model to create wallpapers. (I believe at one point it used Parti, but that may have changed.) All the processing is done server-side, so it takes a few seconds for it to work.
The generative AI wallpaper feature is coming first to the Pixel 8. Since it works entirely server-side, there’s no reason it can’t come to other Pixels in a future update, like the upcoming December 2023 Pixel Feature Drop. (It’s being tested on the Pixel 6 & Pixel 7, in fact.)

Face Unlock on the Pixel 8 series is now classified as a Class 3 (formerly Strong) biometric, which allows it to be used for BiometricPrompt (ie. authenticate within apps) and the Android Keystore.
This means you'll be able to use the Pixel 8's Face Unlock in banking apps and for payment apps like Google Wallet.
By the way, if you want to learn more about how biometric sensors are classified and how Google enforces/verifies these classifications, I made a post for subscribers that dives into this.
