What's new in the new Google Camera 9.1.098 update.
• Newly designed controls for "Brightness", "Shadow", "White Balance", "Exposure" for video, "Speed" for slow motion and time lapse video and "Night Sight", which are now hidden in a new section at the bottom that can be accessed by pressing the new button in the bottom right corner. The same section on the Pixel 8 Pro houses the device-exclusive 'Pro' settings (ISO, shutter speed, etc.)
• Redesigned Quick Settings. They are now presented as a bottom sheet menu instead of a floating window.
• New option in advanced settings 'Rich color in photos'. It enables using the Display P3 format instead of sRGB. Devices will be able to capture wide gamut color images in JPEG format without using 10-bit HDR.

Demo of Google Photos' Magic Editor' feature running on the Pixel 6 and 7 Pro ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Magic Editor is an experimental editor that uses generative artificial intelligence that is 'exclusive' to Pixel 8 series. Mishaal Rahman was able to make the feature work on his Pixel 7 Pro via spoofing some props on the lates Google Photos update, and showed the ability to move and resize objects. But the features don't stop there.
I was also able to activate this feature on my Pixel 6 and found the following features:, change image styling, enhance portraits, and change the sky and even water.
This feature requires you to back up your image for it to work, so apparently all the computing happens in the cloud.

The latest Google Photos update adds a "Audio Magic Eraser" for Pixel 8 and 8 Pro.
The Audio Magic Eraser can detect sounds (people talking in the background, music, or wind) and sort them into separate layers with the ability to adjust their volume. With a few taps, you can reduce distracting noise to make your video sound the way you want it to. (Google demo).
I was able to get this tool to appear in the Google Photos video editor on my Pixel 6, but when I try to split the audio into layers, I get a "unable to edit sounds on this video" message. Apparently this is where Tensor G3 is now required.

Google is working on a redesign of the homepage. It includes a larger search bar like in the Google app, separating the most viewed pages into a separate container with rounded corners, and painting the page background in dynamic colors.
Right now, Google has a few design variations: white or dynamic search bar color; two lines of page labels; or a single-line carousel.
You can activate it with the 'Surface Polish' flag. It is present in the stable version of Chrome, but there only an early version of it with a square search bar of low contrast. The most finished version can be found in Google Chrome Dev and Canary.
Link to the flag:

This app will display your events and tasks (from Google Tasks), for the month. Events and tasks can be deleted directly from the watch. The app supports two tiles "Next Event" and "Next Tasks", from which you can directly mark the task completed. There is also a watch face complication showing "Next Event".
As always, the app can be installed from your phone or directly from the watch on Google Play.

Here's a demo of the redesigned Google Weather UI on phones. The redesign is currently exclusive to the Pixel Tablet, and I've managed to enable it on the latest version of the Google Search app by spoofing the device's code name to 'tangorpro' (Pixel Tablet).…
The redesigned Google Weather UI is rolling out to all users.
The interface, which first appeared in mid-summer exclusively on the Pixel Fold and Tablet, is now becoming available on other Android devices. The rollout started a few weeks ago, and the redesign has been rolling out to more and more users in recent days.
There's no need to update anything, the page is still embedded in the Google Search app. If you still see the old UI, you can try clearing the Google app cache and stopping it. If that doesn't work, then the redesign isn't available to you yet.

Google Play now has a blue accent. At the beginning of March I made a post that "Play Store is finally works on fully integrating the Material You dynamic colors". This was half true. Back then, the only accent was "baseline blue", which replaced green,…
As many of you have already noticed, the page background color in the Google Play Store dark theme has become darker than before. It's still not completely black ('Amoled'), but close to it.
The change is propagated server-side, through the activation of the server-side flag

Google Maps on Android will show the weather in the location you're currently viewing.
A new weather tile will appear below the search chips carousel. Tapping on it will open a new window with more detailed info for a few hours ahead and a button to view air quality.
It is noteworthy that this feature appeared in the iOS app 4 years ago, but reached the Android client only now.

Pixel 8 supports display output to an external display via USB-C Display Port.
Mishaal Rahman (Patreon) and Micha Lechner were able to demonstrate how the Pixel 8 outputs to an external display works. Specifically in this example, the video used a USB-C to USB-C DisplayPort enabled cable. Also, a second tester stated that the feature also works when using USB-C to HDMI adapter.
At the moment, the feature only mirrors the image from the phone, but it is expected that by Android 15 Google will introduce a PC mode to it, something it has been working on for some time now.
To enable support for USB-C Display Port output, you'll need Root-access. You can activate it with the following command:

Under Settings / Security & Privacy / More security & privacy, there will be a new item 'Android Safe Browsing', whose denoscription reads "Get alerts about threats from dangerous websites". When the feature is turned off or you try to turn it off, you will be warned that you will be protected by 'an older version of Safe browsing'.
This feature requires Google Play Protect to be enabled. It also has a list of "Supported Apps". I assume this will list apps that use the SafetyNet Safe Browsing API, but I could be wrong.
This page is integrated in the latest beta version of Google Play Services v. 23.41.13 beta and is hidden from users for now.

Pixel Watch 2 charger supports USB data transfer.
Google's second gen watch has gotten an updated 4-pin charger. As Mishaal Rahman uncovered, you will be able to do ADB debugging when connected to a PC as the cable supports data transfer from the watch to the PC.
This is great news for developers as now you don't need to set up debugging over WI-Fi to test applications.

Google Clock app v.7.6 adds Pixel Watch Alarm sync and Weather forecast.
Google has released a new update to the Clock app, here's what's new:
• New option in alarm tile 'Weather forecast'. This feature displays a greeting screen with the weather for the day after you turn off the alarm.
• New 'Alarm sync' option in settings. This feature will allow Google Clock app to sync alarms with your Pixel watches. Currently it's giving 'Can't pair with a watch' error, most likely we have to get a new update to the Google Pixel Watch companion app for it to work.
• Once you have set up the 'Local weather on clock' feature, a new 'Change temperature units' item will appear in the settings. When you tap it, you will be taken to Android's Regional preferences page.
• The home clock on the 'Clock' tab is now centered.
