The point of the "current thing" meme is not that the events which constitute the "current thing" aren't of real significance. The point is that the "current thing" dominates the public consciousness, allowing the regime to bury it's extremely recent wrongdoings.
No one is claiming that the Russia-Ukraine conflict is manufactured. It's of massive significance. The point is that public is so caught up in the spectacle that they have more or less have forgotten about the tyrannical vaccine campaign and are relatively uninterested in the horrific revelations which have to light since.
Obviously, the Russia-Ukraine conflict isn't a distraction. What is a distraction is the spectacle. That people on the right are arguing about who they "support" in a conflict which they have no influence over rather than considering that there will be major food and energy shortages in the near future.
Hot takes on the "current thing" are the right-wing version of shitlibs supporting the "current thing". Spectacle is a distraction from the real-life decisions you will have to make.

Have a look at this very strange video from U.S. Army Special Operations Recruiting. The website displays the following:
"PSYOP operators are adaptive thinkers who specialize in unconventional capabilities, cultural expertise, language proficiency, military deception, cyber warfare, and advanced communications techniques across all forms of media. PSYOP Soldiers operate in small, autonomous teams or with other Special Operations forces to persuade and influence local populations in support of U.S. military objectives."
The question we need to be asking ourselves is: Does this include local populations within the West, and even those on American soil? I would argue that it very much does, and that the Military-Industrial Complex has long been at war with the people it is supposed to serve, even if most rank-and-file don't realise it.
As with most of the strife we're facing, our solution must be to simply turn off the media, and to become impervious to the psyops being pushed through it. Importantly, that includes much of alt media. We must return to the real world, where we cannot be easily deceived by illusions concocted on the other side of the world.

After founding the city of Rome, Romulus and his band of warriors needed some cute tradwives so they went around asking other tribes for brides. But they weren’t exactly men of high standing, so no tribe would marry off their daughters to these ragtag nobodies.

In this case, the guy in question is 84 years old - at that age, he probably doesn't even have a sex drive! Yet he is declared guilty of sexual misconduct, can never be proven innocent, and will probably never work again and when people remember him after his death, this "scandal" will taint his memory.
The power of vain young women to destroy good men has grown massively out of control. Understandings between the sexes which used to be taken for granted - sometimes men will joke, sometimes men will flirt, sometimes men will "invade your personal space" by touching your shoulder - have been eliminated, and the result is endless war between women corrupted by this power they have been given, and men who don't realise what that power can do to them and their careers and reputations.
