Announcing Humanode Testnet V2 — Shamshel

Today we’re pleased to announce that Testnet V2 “Shamshel” and Humanode Desktop App will be released on 8th of December 2021. Details.

The Testnet V2 will have features such as:
• Forkless runtime upgrade
• Cutting-edge proof-of-human-existence protocol
• Aura consensus
• Able to support thousands of human nodes at any given time
• User friendly UI to launch a human node locally or in the cloud

Participants will be able to become human nodes through a biometric enrollment process, validate blocks, send transactions, and participate in FaceTec's $100,000 anti-spoofing bounty programme.

All the applications for the V1 will be transfered to V2. Thank you once again for your patience.

Shamshel will support Linux, MacOS, and Windows, in combination with iOS and Android, and the hardware requirements to join the testnet will not be high.

Much has happened since the launch of Humanode Testnet V1 “Sachiel”. Overall it was a success with:

• 7000+ testnet applications;
• 150+ participants interacted with liveness detection and faucet;
• Up to 100+ nodes connected at the same time for two months.

At first we thought that we were going to just update the existing testnet but so many changes have been made that we decided to push for V2.

As we are transitioning to the new testnet we are going to wipe the chain clean. For those who participated in “Sachiel” - don’t be worried your effort will be snapshotted, remembered and, hopefully, appropriately rewarded. For those who lost their mnemonics - you will be able to authorize anew.

All the applications for the V1 will be transfered to V2.

Hello to all human nodes! Following our lovely tradition, we are here to provide you with a recap of projects’ news and updates of the past two weeks!
First and foremost, a few days ago, the Humanode team announced that Testnet V2 ‘Shamshel’ and Humanode Desktop App will be released on 8th of December 2021! ‘Shamshel’ will have features such as: forkless runtime upgrade, cutting-edge proof-of-human-existence protocol, Aura consensus, support of thousands of human nodes at any given time, and user-friendly UI to launch a human node locally or in the cloud. Participants will be able to become human nodes through a biometric enrollment process, validate blocks, send transactions, and participate in FaceTec's $100,000 anti-spoofing bounty programme. Shamshel will support Linux, MacOS, and Windows, in combination with iOS and Android, and the hardware requirements to join the testnet will not be high. Currently, the Humanode teams are operating extremely hard on the major tasks. As part of the development update, they’ve shared what they’ve been working on over the past two weeks.
As for the network development, they added a proper log entry for the "already bio-authorized" errors, shared linter settings, and improved error mapping from the logic to the HTTP transport layer at robonode.
The team continues their work on the desktop application. These weeks, they fixed versioning and race condition for QR code in node tab, migrated to React and MaterialUI, shared sentry code across processes, disabled application menu, used Electron dark mode, set no-sync eslint rule to warn mode to be switched to error later, added a workaround for Apple Silicon engine issue alongside passphrase input for encrypted SSH keys and idle timeout termination on local engine, and updated manifest noscripts to new format.
Considering crypto-biometric search and matching and liveness algorithms, the bioauth team added model architecture and training code for FASNetC based on liveness detection, updated the evaluation code to analyze performance and added visualization, fixed bug in GPU inference code, scaled up the FASNetA model and add updated weight, added updated weight and smooth cross entropy loss, updated weight for FASNetB based on liveness detection, and refactored code and added densenet121 model for facial expression recognition.

Humanode's latest blog post discusses biometric-based validators. With Humanode, blockchains can include liveness detection checks in the consensus mechanism to be a validator of the network. Human-only networks of validators, as opposed to the default of extraction and individualism, make room for cooperative and collective modes of economic functioning. More details in the blog!

Humanode TestNet V2 'Shamshel' is Live

Humanode is releasing “Shamshel (TestNet V2)”, the closed Beta version of the first major upgrade to the Humanode TestNet software today.

The 1st major upgrade will greatly improve the UI/UX and allow users to install the TestNet application without having to touch the terminal window.

As in “Sachiel (Testnet V1)”, Shamshel participants will be able to become human nodes through a biometric enrollment process, validate blocks, send transactions, and participate in FaceTec's $100,000 anti-spoofing bounty program.

Current TestNet V1 users will be transferred to Shamshel, and a number of current applicants will also be invited to join Shamshel for the closed testing session.

Humanode is scheduling the full public release of Shamshel, with further updated UI and UX on December 22nd, fully opening the doors to all who want to join the Humanode TestNet, and immortalize their existence as one of the first batches of human nodes in History.
