"History doesn't repeat itself, but it often rhymes"
I believe that life is cyclical, that most problems have already surfaced or have been solved at some point, which makes Ray Dalio's Principles so effective.
In so, civilizations are also pretty much cyclical. Ray Dalio's 'Changing World Order' reflects that and now chancing upon Oswald Spengler's culture theory, it makes sense too.
"Democracy is the weapon of 'money'"
What can individuals do?

the return of piracy https://youtube.com/shorts/LBv43C8SeyY?si=mdNLoyBnxsFOpccF
Gen Zs are returning to single purpose devices like mp3 players and ipods, choosing to pirate their songs instead of paying for music
funny how we always end up yearning for older trends
it’s always a return to basics

why everyone is quitting social media https://youtu.be/zN-rElTzR_4?si=lJLL4Bt4I5jjFynU
i have so much to say about this
in 2023, i was telling my friends that the future 'trend' would be in quitting social media. fast forward 2 years, we're reaching a pivot. social media isn't social anymore! only 7% of time spent on instagram in 2025 is spent on viewing content from friends.
i initially quit social media as a way to work on myself post breakup in 2022, as it led to a lot of comparisons to people's happy lives. social media feeds off attention/validation of the individual. everyone is incentivised to only post their best lives, painting this image of perfection. fast forward a few months of detox, i came to realise that i'm much happier without it and have never returned since. (https://news.1rj.ru/str/humblespace/229)
social media is also acting as a crutch for boredom for most people (https://news.1rj.ru/str/humblespace/435) and studies also show that most people know that its bad for them, but yet they can't seem to stop. why?
anyw, i think the key here is not necessarily to reject social media entirely, but to moderate your intake and especially be aware of your consumption habits. if you are one that is scrolling ig stories/tiktok every chance you get in between breaks of a conversation, there is a problem there. i believe social media is an integral part of society and will never leave, but the change can start internally within you.
(maybe not so) hot take: social media is the digital k-pod that the majority are consuming unknowingly

social media is the digital k-pod that the majority are consuming unknowingly
for those that do not know what k-pods are
KPods are vape cartridges filled with synthetic drugs such as cannabinoids, ketamine, methamphetamine, and medical sedatives. These substances are mixed in unpredictable combinations, which means users never really know what they are inhaling.
