was recently posed this question What are the principles of marketing to you? my answer: marketing is pretty much sales to me, and having some sales background, i would say a) clarity in message/pitch, because customers do not have time to try decipher…
my current mini obsession is marketing

it was something i used to dislike back in university because i thought it was just designing pretty posters and videos and that it was a female dominated field

now i'm getting fascinated by the human psych aspect of things in marketing and reading up materials on how to be a good marketer

might start a curriculum for this into 2026

https://news.1rj.ru/str/humblespace/659 :
So I became really intentional about having “side quests”

E.g. I used to read very specific research papers about non-work topics I’m curious about

I’ve been seeing lots of content about creating your own curriculum:

Everything is Tuberculosis by John Green

an indepth read into the history of the world's leading cause of death

John managed to weave stories of patients together with statistics and facts to keep it interesting

some parts were a bit harder to get through due to jargon and walls of facts, but nevertheless i felt like i did gain more awareness about tuberculosis

lastly, pretty happy that Henry survived because at multiple points i thought he was about to succumb to TB

main takeaways:
- Tuberculosis remains the world's deadliest infection because of injustice
- it is curable, yet because of corporation's greed and inaccessibility to treatment, millions are still dying every year

fav quotes:
Nothing is so privileged as thinking history belongs to the past.

People living with TB today have told me that fighting the disease is hard, but fighting the stigma of their communities is even harder.

(from the book)

did you know?

Before the germ theory of disease, we did not know that around half the cells in our body do not belong to us! they are bacteria and other microscopic organisms colonizing our body. to one degree or another, these microorganisms can also control the body. Some of your thoughts might not belong to you, but the microorganisms in your digestive tract. Research also indicates that certain gut biomes are associated with major depression and anxiety disorders too!

What is marketing?
reminder to cherish your loved ones and show your love while you can

today, i am reminded by the passing of a relative

life is short, life is fragile

do the things you've always wanted, shoot your shots, and take the risk

time is never on anyone's side

make it count

I know of no better life purpose than to perish attempting the great and impossible. The fact that something seems impossible should not be a reason to not pursue it. That’s exactly what makes it worth pursuing. Where would the courage and greatness be if success was certain and there was no risk. The only true failure is shrinking away from life’s challenges.

the population decline spiral begins or more like in progress https://news.sky.com/story/china-imposes-13-tax-on-condoms-as-birth-rate-declines-13485073
- heavy gender imbalance
- scarcity of women, leading to higher expectations of a partner (没房没车不要谈 min requirements is owning a house a car)
- rising cost of living
- people aren’t feeling safe enough to have kids
- more career focused women, refusal to be housewives or settle down
- increasingly digital hence lonely world
- increase in incel culture

feels inevitable because i doubt slapping baby incentives will help either

taxing condoms might increase birth rates slightly, but there’ll be more unwanted babies and abortions too

was it inevitable from the start in pursuit of economical growth?

hopefully that day comes in the future above all other things

to have loved and be loved
