Good evening,
Well, here she is, Britannia herself commanding the British fleet.
I was meant to upload this yesterday, but alas, I had no electricity for nearly 36 hours. 😩
Anyway, the sketch is a little unfinished because I have yet to add crowd detail (
I want the painting to represent the country properly and respectfully.
I have more sketches to upload; I’ll do so in due course.
Have a good day/evening 😁,

or other subjects) on the cliff because I’m deciding whom to include: historic, folk heroes & civilians across the ages of Great Britain.I want the painting to represent the country properly and respectfully.

Good morning, 😁
Two Othin (Odin) sketches I'll turn into posters/paintings - something akin to 80s grunge album covers. Well, the style I have in mind.
I may change a few things - especially the second sketch - because I'm not sure whether Huginn and Muninn will work in this instance, but we'll see. 😅 Sketching Sleipnir was not an easy feat, I'll tell you that.
PS: The Hertha painting is done. I'm just busy with the Substack post. It should be up later today. 😁
Have a good day.

Mother 'Ertha
Earth's Mother, Protector of the Needy, The Hermit Princess
She travels across the land pulled by snow white steers and from whence she walks healing water springs forth. Some say she gave the great Frau Holda her steading and her duties. Chants of thanks are given to her among the fields for her gifts and all of this despite the Church's best attempts to eradicate her casting her as naught but a byname for Gaia or Terra.
Yet Mother Earth was always there her story hidden beneath Saints & Madonna's even The Seer Notburga. They failed to rid the people of their God, who leads the Wild Hunt atop her White Stag hops crowning its antlers as 'Ertha herself wields a riding crop of Valerian Stalk.
Beneath the mask 'Ertha's story is found, the woe of a broken heart sent her fleeing to the Underworld riding across the raging River of the Dead to the bowels of the earth atop her stag to a cave among Death's Mountains fed by Hart and Serpent. While there she gained wisdom and clarity, seeing what curses the seers mind and soul. Her father went to reclaim her but was unable for 'Ertha was not alive nor dead and all he managed to do was tear off her bloodless arm. Yet somehow... someway in Summer she returns to her people blessing them and their fields until Autumn comes when she is carried by snow white steers to the River of the Dead and slumbers once more amidst deaths waters until Spring comes anew.
Mother Ertha remains to this day, by Wagner's pen she appeared as Seeress and Mother of the Norns & Valkyries, the latter via Wotan. She rode her stag in Disney's Fantasia. Most of all she remains because we never once lost her name, the name we adamantly hold for our planet, Earth.
Happy Eartha Day!

Earth's Mother, Protector of the Needy, The Hermit Princess
(H)'Ertha is THE MOST WELL KNOWN OF ALL EUROPEAN DEITIES, even if one does not realize it... We've all heard her name, we walk upon her namesake day in and day out, for Mother "Eartha" is on the tongues of all. Title: She Who Dwells Beyond The River
Medium@ Oil-on-Digital
Time: 40+ Hours (Over 3 months)
Theme: German Folklore
Finally, after three months of slow, intermittent painting, she is here; she is done! The painting of German Goddess Hertha or Erda.
The painting illustrates a vast German landscape of imposing mountains and a dense forest of all things wondrous, enchanting, and yes, even portentous (think about the many fairy tales which take place in such environments: both exciting but equally horrifying). A calm, soothing river runs through the heart of the landscape as Hertha sits on a rock, observing her White Stag - on whom she rides during the Wild Hunt. The snake is one of the animals which feeds Hertha in the land of the dead. The river acts as the liminal space between the realm of the living and the dead.
To read more about her folklore, as well as the entire process of the painting, click here on my Substack.

If ever the endless bounty of Santa's sack of toys has prickled your curiosity, it's origins are not so strange but are indeed ancient, like The Gods of Old from Zeus's horn of plenty to The Venus of Willendorf's adornment carved into the stone age domiciles of France the fibers of his trademark sack were woven with the same powers and intentions of the cornucopias the preceded it.

Krampus, Wild Lord of the Alps
In the Wilds there is no Good nor Evil. There is Strength and Cunning, Brutality and Kindness, Liberty and Passion, Fervor and Abundance. There is only Life or Death... and all of these things have their God, The Lord of the Wilds, Krampus the Wild Man of the Alps.
Sometimes he is horned. Sometimes he is not. Sometimes he is red or black, white or piebald, his face ferocious and sturdy as the mighty Wood. His body shaggy with a pelt thick to withstand the blistering chill of his mountain home. At times he is horned as the Ibex, at times he is not. Sometimes he is draped in moss other times he is as proud and naked as the bear.
But always... always he is watching and he will come. THEY will all come. The God Krampus leading his host of spirits through the mountain passes, down the winding roads, across the cottage roofs, birch switch in his hand and basket astride his back he comes to witness and to revel with the many ghosts both alive and dead.
He is there to punish. And to reward. The ashen ghosts of the long dead riding along beside him, the hanger on of Sinterklaas newly added and fitting in as best he can with his new shaggy beard. He runs through the streets greeting the kids and chastising or praising the adults, ruffling hair and roughing finery, tired of the pomp and circumstance, the overgroomed and duplicitous. For he is the God of the Wilds, he has no use for the Domesticated save as dinner and dessert.
For his people he brings the conception of children, he finds lovers amidst the women and pairs others who show courage and strength. He gifts fertile fields in the shadow of his mountains. Joyous battles shall occur between Krampus and man, Krampus and Krampus. The wonderful, ecstatic festivities draw to a close, his gifts given, he takes his ghosts and his spirits back to the mountains, until next year hoping they did not forget the lessons he gave and cherishing memories he made. -I.M.Knosp

Before Coca Cola and Haddon Sundblom immortalized the Red and White of Santa's Modern Coat, Santa could be seen in many colors and styles of Winter Garb. With the oldest being a fur coat
Merry Krismas!
🎅Hyperborean Radio (Uncensored)🎄
(or a pelt growing out of him) though the German-American artist Thomas Nast, the man that immortalized the image of Santa as a Jolly Old Elf, favored The Stars and Stripes of the American Flag as his original suit color.Nast though was a political cartoonist and many of his iconic Santa's were rife with political commentary. Though the older fur coverings of Santa Claus tie back into the older Yuletide "Pagan" Wildman traditions that are always a joy to remind people that we bake cookies for a forest god and our beloved ghosts every Christmas. Ded Moroz
Ded Moroz AKA "Grandfather Frost" is a god of Winter and a gift giver on New Years during the period of Koleda. He is also considered a Wizard of Winter and Frost. He is sometimes considered to be related to a variety of obscure weather deities while others claim he is tied to Morozko, a Slavic Hero and Blacksmith of Ice and cold. When he delivers gifts he rides in a Russian Troika pulled by 3 horses. He is accompanied by his Grand Daughter the Snow Maiden. He was banned by the Soviets for being a "Children's God" but quickly made a resurgence. Like many Yule gift givers he has been fused with Santa Claus, though a movement to return him to his Slavic Roots has taken form and one such version a Cossack style Ded Moroz complete with a sword has sprung up. -TLK
