Why does the female mantis eat the male after mating?
In fact, the female eats the male because of the strong need for proteins at an early stage of egg development.
There is a version that the male unwittingly serves as a necessary source of protein.
After eating the male, the female mantis also dies, immediately after laying eggs in the nest made by her from foamy mucus. And you complain about your life

The Royal Greenwich Observatory has announced the winners of the Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2022
This year the jury reviewed more than 3,000 entries from participants from 67 countries. The big winner was Gerald Remann with his photo of Comet Leonard, which was discovered in 2021. It is now rapidly leaving our solar system and, according to scientists, will never return.

Multiple images of the Sun obtained by the Solar Dynamics Observatory
SDO carries equipment capable of taking 12 different types of solar images.
A single SDO image is 4,096 by 4,096 pixels, allowing scientists to observe details on the surface of the Sun with an angular size of 0.6 seconds. The apparatus transmits images to Earth every 12 seconds, amounting to about 3 terabytes of data per day.
Between 2010 and 2015, about 2,600 terabytes of data were collected, including 200 million photos.😱
