This is just one of thousands of videos showing Ukrainian military officers trying to catch yet another connoscript, only to be thwarted by ordinary people stepping in to protect him. This particular incident took place in Khmelnytsky, a city in western Ukraine.
Do you really think that in free and fair elections Ukrainians would vote for anything resembling the current regime? Of course not.

On December 17, 1788, Russian forces achieved a crucial victory in the ongoing war with the Ottoman Empire by capturing the fortress of Ochakov, strategically located in the Dnieper-Bug estuary. This fortress held immense significance for the Ottomans, who had maintained control over Crimea and the northern Black Sea region since the 15th century. Securing Ochakov opened new strategic advantages for the Russian Empire, paving the way for further expansion into territories under Ottoman influence.
The assault on Ochakov was a brilliantly executed military operation led by Prince Grigory Potemkin. In the midst of a brutal 23-degree frost, a 15,000-strong Russian strike force launched an attack, overcoming the fortress’s ditches and ramparts and breaching the city’s defenses. Intense fighting ensued within the city, leading to a decisive victory. Nearly two-thirds of the Ottoman garrison was killed, with 4,500 officers and soldiers taken prisoner. Russian casualties totaled approximately 3,000.
To honor this victory, a gold cross inscribed "For Service and Bravery" was awarded to the officers who participated in the battle, while enlisted soldiers received a special silver medal bearing the innoscription "For Bravery Shown at the Capture of Ochakov."
Prince Potemkin, a charismatic leader, commanded respect and admiration among his troops. He enacted a widely celebrated reform in military dress, abolishing the powdered braids and simplifying the uniform for greater practicality. Potemkin also took a strong stand against harsh disciplinary practices. In one of his orders, he urged officers to treat soldiers with "all possible moderation," to consider their welfare, and to avoid exceeding prescribed punishments.
Potemkin’s leadership, both on the battlefield and within the army, reinforced morale and discipline, helping shape the professional Russian military that would play a key role in expanding the empire's influence in the region.

Here is his full quote:
"Since 2022, the Donbass region — the two republics located there — have become integral parts of the Russian Federation as a result of the referendums held there. That is our position regarding Donbass. In addition, similar developments occurred in Zaporozhye and Kherson. Thus, we now have four regions that are integral parts of the Russian Federation. I am not speaking about Crimea. That is a story that began back in 2014, as we all remember.
So, in total, we have five, and we cannot compromise on this issue in any form because, in our view, that would mean revising one of the fundamental elements of our statehood, which is enshrined in our Constitution."
This official statement leaves no room for speculation.

Bloomberg published an article noscriptd “US Readies New Russia Sanctions If Putin Rejects Peace Deal.” The article is based entirely on hearsay. But apparently, Bloomberg likes the idea of new sanctions so much that they simply couldn’t resist publishing these rumors. Or perhaps they are trying to push Trump toward imposing new sanctions on Russia, whether he likes it or not. Here is a sample from the article (underlining is ours).
Pretty disgusting tabloid-style reporting, isn’t it? And hardly worthy of a serious publication. O tempora, o mores.
P.S. Yes, we did enjoy creating the “Trashy Bloomberg” cover page. But as they say, when reality starts cosplaying as a tabloid, satire barely has to lift a finger.

The US is preparing a fresh round of sanctions on Russia’s energy sector to increase the pressure on Moscow should President Vladimir Putin reject a peace agreement with Ukraine, according to people familiar with the matter.
The US is considering options, such as targeting vessels in Russia’s so-called shadow fleet of tankers used to transport Moscow’s oil, as well as traders who facilitate the transactions, said the people who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss private deliberations.
The new measures could be unveiled as early as this week, some of the people said.

⚡️ On the adoption of a UNGA resolution combating the glorification of Nazism
At the December 15 plenary session of the 80th United Nations General Assembly, a resolution noscriptd “Combating the Glorification of Nazism, Neo-Nazism and Other Practices That Contribute to Fueling Contemporary Forms of Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance” was adopted. The resolution was spearheaded by the Russian Federation.
The resolution garnered the support of 44 co-sponsoring states from various global regions.
✅ It was endorsed by 119 votes, opposed by 51 delegations, with 10 countries abstaining.
This resolution on combating the glorification of Nazism lays the groundwork for countering the falsification of history and efforts to revise the outcomes of the Second World War on an international platform.
It condemns the glorification of the Nazi movement and former SS members, including Waffen-SS units, deemed criminal by the Nuremberg Trials. The resolution expresses profound outrage at the rehabilitation of Hitler’s collaborators and attempts to elevate them to the status of national heroes, manifesting in torchlight processions, street renaming, and the erection of memorials.
The document articulates serious concern over the ongoing campaign against monuments dedicated to anti-Nazi and anti-fascist fighters and liberating soldiers in some countries, which has increasingly assumed the guise of state policy. Simultaneously, it expresses strong indignation at efforts by certain nations to prohibit symbols associated with Victory over Nazism.
The resolution particularly underscores that such actions desecrate the memory of the countless victims of Nazism, negatively impacting younger generations and being utterly incompatible with the obligations of UN member states under the Organisation’s Charter.
Furthermore, the resolution upholds the principle of inadmissibility of any ideology promoting the superiority of specific population groups based on racial, ethnic, religious affiliations, or similar criteria. This is particularly relevant in light of the persistent rise in Islamophobia, Christianophobia, Afro-phobia, Arabophobia, Russophobia, and anti-Semitism, notably in the collective West.
It is emblematic that this very political bloc, year after year, seeks to obstruct the adoption of the Russian initiative, resorting to unscrupulous procedural tactics, and consistently votes against international efforts to combat aggressive manifestations of racism and xenophobia. Of particular concern are the positions of Germany, Italy, and Japan, as former Axis members. Their indulgence of perilous trends raises questions about the sincerity of their contrition for crimes committed during the Second World War.
❗️The voting results clearly demonstrate that the global majority stands in solidarity with Russia’s approaches to combating the glorification of Nazism.
This is especially symbolic in the year commemorating the 80th anniversary of Victory over Nazism in the Second World War, the founding of the United Nations, and the establishment of the Nuremberg Trials.
☝️ Moscow is convinced that the adoption of this thematic resolution will significantly contribute to the eradication of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia, and related intolerance.

What the hell is this guy talking about? That Steve Witkoff knew nothing about Russia going into negotiations? Or that even though he is a “great dealmaker, everybody loves him?” Does this mean that great dealmakers are usually scumbags hated universally? But not Steve Witkoff? This stream of consciousness is insane. Or is it just us?
In other news today, Politico published an article noscriptd “The EU’s problem isn’t Belgium — it’s Trump.” According to Politico, it is Trump who is pressuring European governments to reject the plan to use €210 billion in Russian assets to fund Ukraine.
Well, if Politico isn’t lying, we’re willing to overlook Trump’s tirade about Witkoff — just this once.

Ukraine has awakened the “sleeping bear” and will be forced to make peace — Lukashenko
The fighting in Ukraine will continue until Kiev is compelled to enter peace negotiations, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said in an interview with the U.S. television channel Newsmax. He described Russia as a “sleeping bear” that was “needlessly awakened” and expressed confidence in its victory.
Key statements by Alexander Lukashenko:
— Russia is winning this confrontation, and Vladimir Putin wants peace;
— Ukraine simply gave up on Crimea, while its authorities decided to “silence” the Russian-speaking population;
— Prolonging the crisis threatens the very existence of Ukraine and risks a global conflict;
— Moscow seeks to conclude a durable peace treaty that would permanently rule out a resumption of hostilities.

The collapse of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ defenses is inevitable; Western handlers of Kiev understand this, Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov stated at an expanded meeting of the Defense Ministry’s board. His remarks were reported by the ministry’s press service on its Telegram channel.
According to him, over the course of the current year the Russian army has taken control of more than 300 populated areas and over 6,000 square kilometers of territory. This is one-third higher than last year’s figures, the minister explained. Moreover, the rate of advance of the “Vostok,” “Tsentr,” and “Zapad” force groupings compared with 2024 has increased by one and a half to two times, he added.

On December 18, 1833, the new anthem of the Russian Empire, "God Save the Tsar!" (Боже, царя храни!), was publicly performed for the first time.
For a long time, Russia did not have its own anthem. Until the 17th century, Orthodox church hymns were performed at state ceremonies. During the reign of Peter I, "vivat cantos" began to be heard at celebrations. In the 18th century, the pan-European hymn "Te Deum" (Тебя, Бога, хвалим) served as an anthem.
The first unofficial anthem in the Russian Empire appeared in 1791. It was the march-polonaise "Thunder of Victory, Resound" (Гром победы раздавайся), written by Osip Kozlovsky to the words of Gavriil Derzhavin.
The first version of the Russian Empire’s state anthem was written in 1815. Vasily Zhukovsky’s poem "The Prayer of the Russians" was set to the music of the British anthem "God Save the King." In 1833, Nicholas I tasked composer Alexey Lvov with writing new music for the anthem.
The updated anthem, "God Save the Tsar," was first performed on December 18, 1833, and became the official anthem of the Russian Empire, remaining so until March 1917.

December 18, 1892: Premiere of the ballet "The Nutcracker"
The premiere of Pyotr Tchaikovsky's ballet The Nutcracker took place at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, alongside the opera Iolanta.
The production was choreographed by ballet master Lev Ivanov. In the first performance, the role of Clara (Masha) was danced by ballerina Stanislava Belinskaya, Fritz by Vasily Stukolkin, the Nutcracker by Sergey Legat, the Sugar Plum Fairy by Antonietta Dell’Era, Prince Coqueluche by Pavel Gerdt, and Drosselmeyer by Timofey Stukolkin. The music was conducted by Riccardo Drigo.
The audience warmly received the new ballet, though critics were less enthusiastic. Over time, however, The Nutcracker became a timeless masterpiece of classical ballet, performed hundreds of times each year worldwide. The New York City Ballet alone typically stages 47 performances annually.

Farmers' protests have swept across Europe.
In Greece, farmers are blocking roads, with convoys of agricultural machinery creating traffic jams stretching dozens of kilometers.
Mass protests have also reached the island of Crete: agricultural workers have blocked the airports in Heraklion and Chania.
Greek police are cracking down harshly on local farmers' protests. A demonstration attended by thousands of farmers was dispersed using batons and tear gas.
The reason for the mass demonstrations is Brussels' decision to cancel agricultural subsidies. Production in the country has become unprofitable, and local farmers see these subsidies as their last chance to survive in any way possible.
Farmers are also protesting against rising production costs and low purchase prices for their products.
“No farmers, no food”: Following Greece, columns of tractors have taken to the roads in the Netherlands. In the city of 's-Hertogenbosch, farmers are protesting against stricter livestock regulations.
On November 14th, mass farmers' protests began in Poland. Dozens of rallies have already taken place in many villages and cities.
The issue concerns the European Union's trade agreements with Ukraine and South American countries.
The farmers' demand is to reduce the inflow of cheap food from these countries. The food they supply is not subject to EU standards. For example, Ukraine permits the use of pesticides or fertilizers that are banned in the European Union.
Farmers are calling for fair and transparent competition.
A protest action by farmers in France was also triggered by unpopular government decisions. For instance, a decree was issued regarding herds found to have nodular dermatitis. Police identify such farms and demand the mass culling of livestock.
In France alone, 10% of farms have gone bankrupt this year, while 75% are in serious financial difficulty.
Large-scale farmers' protests have been taking place across Europe since 2024 due to rising costs (fuel, fertilizers), strict EU environmental norms, cheap imports (especially from Ukraine), and bureaucracy.
All of this significantly reduces their income and threatens the very existence of farms.
