🔥Chronicle of a special military operation
for 22-23 October 2022

Border territories of the Russian Federation:

In the morning of 22 October, the AFU struck civilian infrastructure in the town of Shebekino in the Belgorod region. Shells hit shopping malls: two civilians were killed and 13 others wounded.

Starobelsk direction (see the map):

In the Svatovka sector, Ukrainian formations conducted reconnaissance battles at the Raigorodka-Kovalevka line. The RF Armed Forces repulsed the attack: the enemy suffered losses and withdrew tanks to the Borovoy area due to a shortage of fuel and lubricants.

On the Liman sector, the AFU continues preparations for a large-scale offensive against Kreminna from the Torskoye-Terny line.

During the attack on 22 October, the enemy managed to approach Krasnopopopovka, but the Russian Armed Forces' 20th Army soldiers repulsed the attack and regained almost all the lost positions. The Ukrainian command plans to resume the assault in order to create a bridgehead for an attack on Kremenna.

Soledar direction (see the map):

During the advance from Otradivka, Russian forces squeezed units of the 58th AFU Motorized Infantry Brigade to the reserve lines.

Units of the 2nd Battalion of the 53rd Mechanized Brigade were redeployed from Chasov Yar near Opytne to hold back the advancing units of the Wagner PMCs.

Soldiers of the 46th Independent Assault Battalion of the 53rd Army Brigade, supported by artillery, attempted to flank the Russian Armed Forces from the direction of Kleshcheyevka. The attack was repulsed.

In the Seversk area, units of the 10th Mountain Assault Brigade of the AFU conducted a reconnaissance battle near Serebryanka, but withdrew under fire from the Russian forces.

Lugansk Region:

Ukrainian formations shelled Starobelsk as well as Rubizhne, Svatovo and Novoaidar with HIMARS MLRS.

Donetsk direction:

There have been no significant changes to the front lines over the past 24 hours. After capturing all the AFU strongholds on the outskirts of Opytne, fighters of the Sparta battalion are preparing to storm the village.

Ukrainian formations shelled Donetsk, Kashtanove, Makeyevka, Yasinovataya, Gorlovka, Krasny Partizan and other settlements in the agglomeration.

Zaporozhye direction (see the map):

The AFU continues to prepare for a major offensive. Several units of the 65th mechanized brigade of the AFU have been deployed to the Huliaipilsky sector.

Mobilized men trained at training ranges in western Ukraine have been redeployed to the Orekhovsky sector. They have formed assault squads with BGM-71 TOW missile defence systems.

At the same time, the Ukrainian armed forces are increasing their grouping in the Vremevsky outpost. Two detachments of the 77th Air Mobility Brigade formed in the Zhytomir region have arrived in Bolshaya Novoselka. A tank platoon, a mechanized company and 20 pick-up trucks with personnel were deployed to Uspenovka.

On the morning of 23 October, the Ukrainian armed forces launched a missile attack on a hotel on the eastern outskirts of Energodar, where employees of Rosenergoatom lived. The building sustained damage; there were no casualties.

Southern Front: Nikolaevsko-Berislavskoye direction (map)

There is no significant change in the situation in Kherson Oblast. After several failed attempts, the AFU command is making up for losses and reconnaissance of the RF Armed Forces' positions before the next assault.

In the Berislav area, Russian servicemen blockaded and captured a sabotage group of the 17th AFU Tank Brigade in its full strength at the Pyatikhatka-Polyanka line.

In the Andriyivka sector, a DRG of the 46th Independent Airmobile Brigade attempted to entrench itself in the area north of Ishchanka. Russian troops uncovered the Ukrainian group's movement and launched an artillery strike on the areas of advance, forcing the enemy to retreat.

A terrorist attack occurred in the Bryansk region near the border with Belarus: an improvised explosive device went off on the Novozybkov-Zlynka stretch. The railway track was damaged, there were no victims or injured.

♣ Units of the Ukrainian 71st Jaeger Brigade, reinforced by two SOF companies, attempted to storm Russian positions near the villages of Pershotravneve, Orlyanka and Berestovoye. The attacks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were repulsed, under artillery fire the enemy retreated to their original positions.

♣ On the Limansky section of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, they tried to take the heights south of Makeevka and again approach Krasnopopovka. Two companies of Ukrainian motorized infantry attacked strongholds of the Russian Armed Forces, but came under concentrated artillery fire and retreated with losses.
