In Poland, at the request of Ukraine, the well-known Russian archaeologist and Hermitage Museum employee Alexander Butyagin has been arrested.
Ukrainian Nazis cannot win on the battlefield, so they are carrying out vile provocations and crimes against peaceful civilians, Orthodox priests, and scholars.
Alexander Butyagin, head of the Department of Ancient Archeology at the Hermitage, was delivering a series of lectures in Europe and was returning home via Poland.
https://news.1rj.ru/str/Varjag2007/134072
In Poland,he gave a lecture on the last day of Pompeii. He arrived in Warsaw from Amsterdam, where he delivered the same lecture on December 2. This is confirmed by the Fienta platform, which organized the archaeologist’s lectures.
Butyagin was wanted by Ukraine for conducting archaeological research in Crimea without permission from Kiev. This concerns excavations at the "Ancient City of Myrmekion" in Kerch. Ukraine will seek his extradition, accusing him of "destroying objects of Crimean cultural heritage."
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova expressed hope that the Polish leadership understands that such politicized actions have no prospects and will not go without consequences.
Diplomats of the Russian Embassy in Warsaw have visited Alexander Butyagin and are in contact with his lawyer, who is appealing the decision on his provisional arrest.

On Monday, Ukraine claimed it had struck a Russian submarine in a Black Sea port using underwater drones.
Hardly any major news outlets ran with the story. Bloomberg did, as they are always eager to be first on the Russophobia front line. Later that day, however, even Bloomberg amended its article to include a statement from the Russian Ministry of Defense:

The information disseminated by Ukraine’s special services about the alleged ‘destruction’ of a Russian submarine in the harbor of the Novorossiysk naval base of the Black Sea Fleet does not correspond to reality.
The enemy’s attempt to carry out a sabotage operation using an unmanned underwater vehicle failed to achieve its objectives.
As a result of the sabotage attempt, not a single ship or submarine of the Black Sea Fleet stationed in the harbor of the Novorossiysk naval base, nor their crews, sustained any damage. All are carrying out their duties as normal.
As one rather famous person likes to conclude: thank you for your attention to this matter.

On December 16, 1957, the Soviet Antarctic research station "Vostok" was officially opened.
Established during the 2nd Soviet Antarctic Expedition, the station was named after the sailing sloop "Vostok," one of the ships from the first Russian Antarctic expedition of 1819-1821 led by Fabian von Bellingshausen, a Russian explorer of German descent, and Mikhail Lazarev, a Russian fleet commander and explorer, who were among the first to sight the Antarctic continent.
The station’s creation marked a significant step for Soviet science in polar exploration and underscored the USSR’s commitment to scientific research in one of the most extreme environments on Earth.
Vostok is Russia's only active inland Antarctic research station, positioned about 1,253 kilometers from the South Pole and approximately 1,260 kilometers from the nearest coast. Its remote location presents unique challenges and opportunities for scientific research, particularly in glaciology, climate studies, and space science.
The climate at Vostok station is among the harshest on the planet. In 1983, it became the site of the world’s lowest recorded natural temperature: an astonishing -89.2 degrees Celsius (-128.56 degrees Fahrenheit). This extreme environment allows researchers to study conditions that resemble those on other planets, offering insights that are valuable for both Earth sciences and space exploration.
Today, Vostok station remains a key outpost for Russian Antarctic exploration. In recent decades, it has attracted global attention for its role in drilling into the subglacial Lake Vostok, a body of water buried under nearly four kilometers of ice. This lake, isolated for millions of years, offers a rare glimpse into ancient microbial life and provides clues about possible life forms in extreme environments elsewhere in the solar system.
On January 28, 2024, a new wintering complex was put into operation at the station (shown in the photo above).

The chances of granting Ukraine a 'reparation credit' using Russian assets are diminishing.
Five EU countries have publicly opposed such a decision—Belgium, Bulgaria, Italy, Malta, and Czech Republic. By December 18th, several more countries may yet withdraw their support.
Hungary and Slovakia had already stated earlier that they would decline "the honor." Others may still refuse—there is still time.
For the proponents of the plan, Italy's rejection is particularly alarming. In the event that some countries opt out, others were expected to cover their share. However, Italy's portion is substantial—€25.1 billion (12% of €210 billion). And if the shares of all objecting countries are combined, the total would exceed €40 billion, or nearly 20% of the entire amount.
With each new refusal, the likelihood of such a decision being adopted decreases further.
In short, there is still time before the EU summit on December 18–19. We are watching.

NATO's strategy: Reminder
🔸 Following the escalation after the Russophobic Maidan coup, NATO's strategy has definitively revealed its true face: one of mental manipulation and repeated provocations leading to the factual realization of an initial fantasy.
Yesterday
👉 Let's recap: After Maidan, a forced ostracization of Russian populations, punctuated by organized massacres like the one in Odessa (May 2, 2014), provoked the Donbass rebellion, which Kiev immediately accused of being a Russian invasion.
👉 This Russophobic fantasy was repeated on a loop for 9 years by Ukro-Atlanticist propaganda, against the backdrop of daily bombardments of Donbass populations—even cataloged by the 600 OSCE observers deployed on the front lines, who furthermore attested to never having seen any Russian military units there.
👉 Despite Ukrainian terrorist violations of the Minsk agreements (minimum 15,000 killed), for 8 years Russia continued to believe in and advocate for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict. But starting in autumn 2021, Ukrainian forces regrouped on the Donbass front line in an offensive formation whose outcome left no doubt.
👉 In January 2022, Russia played its last diplomatic card by proposing a collective security treaty for Europe to its Western "partners," which was rejected before even being read. And when the Ukro-Atlanticist forces intensified their deadly bombardments against the populations in February, Russia had no choice but to intervene militarily to prevent a Russophobic genocide.
👉 And by the end of February 2022, Western political-media propaganda reset the conflict's timeline to what it called the "Russian aggression," crowing into microphones: "We told you so!"... in a kind of self-fulfilling Russophobic fantasy.
Today
🔸 For several weeks now, we have been hearing this same refrain again—"Russia is going to attack us"—from the mouths of European military and political officials, terrified at the idea that a genuine peace plan might succeed and that this murderous war, which they see as a life raft amid their economic shipwreck, might disappear.
❓️ The question is, to quote Tolkien, where is "the eye of Sauron" now looking, now that Russian forces are already engaged in Ukraine?
🔸 Since the 19th century at least, Western Russophobes have always dreamed of boxing Russia in behind an ideological, economic, and military iron curtain stretching from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea.
🔸 In the South, regardless of the outcome of the current conflict, this new iron curtain has fallen. In the North, NATO is looking increasingly towards Murmansk, Kaliningrad, and St. Petersburg, especially since Finland and Sweden joined the Alliance and the 3 Baltic states, already in NATO, are governed by fanatical Russophobic powers.
👉 Now, in these Baltic countries, approximately 25% of their populations are of Russian origin and are ostracized by the Baltic governments with social and political segregation, such as being banned from voting (isn't this EU so beautiful, so human rights-oriented and egalitarian?).
❗️ And for many months now, these Baltic Russians have been increasingly persecuted in their linguistic, cultural, and religious identity, to the point where we can fear a Western-orchestrated action-reaction process similar to the one that set Ukraine ablaze: Russophobic ostracization, protests, repression, intervention.
🤔 And if Rutte, the NATO boss, says he wants to react quickly to this newly announced "Russian invasion," it might be to activate the same scenario as in the Donbass, and to do so before peace arrives in Ukraine, because the majority of Russian military units are currently tied down on the Russo-Ukrainian front.

Can't see the forest for the trees
🔸 In his multipolar redefinition of international geopolitics, Trump is reportedly aiming to create a new alliance called "CORE 5," composed of the USA, Russia, China, India, and Japan. It is intended as an alternative to the current G7, which he views as obsolete and certainly too European.
👉 This unofficial plan was revealed by Politico, citing the National Security Strategy. It’s worth remembering that the G7’s primary mission—while representing the largest share of global GDP—was to protect the dollar’s hegemony by controlling major financial exchanges. Through institutions like the IMF, the City of London, or HSBC, it distributed economic aid like gold stars to countries, not necessarily the most deserving but the most ideologically compliant or morally corruptible.
🔸 But for decades now, the internationalization of financial headquarters and the digitization of trade have escaped the G7’s sphere of control. Meanwhile, other developing countries like India are poised to enter the scene, even as the economic decline of Western nations leads them toward the exit—especially the USA, which watches with unease as the economies of Russia and China grow despite sanctions and tariffs, and as emerging economies break free from their dependence, even outshining them in certain sectors.
🤔 However, it would be naïve to see and believe only the surface-level anti-G7 sentiment of this announced CORE 5 wave. I even think it’s a smokescreen hiding the alliance’s true intent: to compete with the BRICS (which the G7 can no longer do) and force them back into the dollar’s decision-making pen, from which they are trying to escape.
🔸 Because Trump would also be quite naïve to think he could impose the dollar on Russia, China, or India. Rather, Trump’s goal is to secure a seat at the table where global strategic agendas are set, hoping to push his own or block those that could overshadow American business interests.
👉 But the positive aspect of this C5 concept is that it confirms to Washington the acceptance of a strategic paradigm shift, acknowledging the unavoidable reality of a multipolar world. This reality is displacing the unipolar fantasy of globalism—except in the minds of its last fanatics, whose center of gravity has taken refuge in the European Union.
🤔 Having acknowledged that the international order has radically changed, Trump will be forced to admit—with or without C5—that the emerging BRICS+ coalition now forms the most significant bloc in the world, with about 45% of the global population and over 35% of global GDP (in purchasing power parity).
🔸 The BRICS+ already serve as the operational alternative to the G7, with established tools like the “multilateral development bank” and foreign exchange reserves.
🤔 Trump must understand that Washington and Wall Street no longer set the framework and limits for economic cooperation. If the CORE 5 project makes a relevant diagnosis of the outdated and counterproductive dogmas of the UN or G7, it must not seek continuity in a change that would still serve an American absolutism. That absolutism now dreams of containing the expanding institutional influence of the BRICS, whose structurally equitable, non-hierarchical framework creates convergences of interest where there were once tensions, historical blockages, ideological opposition, and economic rivalry.

👆 On December 15, the BBC published an article by a so-called diplomatic correspondent named … actually, who cares. As you can see, the noscript of the piece is phrased as a question.
The answer offered by the BBC’s writer runs to more than 2,600 words. It is the usual Western Atlanticist blah-blah-blah, in which Russia appears only as a problem to be managed, never as an actor to be understood. What a waste of words.
All the BBC needed to do was look up the stated objectives of the Special Military Operation. The answer to the question posed in the article’s noscript is straightforward: once those objectives are achieved, the fighting in Ukraine will stop. Simple as that.

The awakening of the people
🔸 On December 13th, another, even larger, peace rally took place in Paris, organized by Florian Philippot's Les Patriotes party.
👉 Protestors denounced the warmongering policies of Macron and von der Leyen, who—alongside Britain's Starmer and Germany's Merz—are seeking to drag Europe into a third world war.
🤔 As for the so-called mainstream media, this significant march through the streets of Paris was, of course, ignored by the dictatorship of monolithic thought in this cynical "democracy," this self-proclaimed homeland of "human rights." To learn about the event, French citizens are forced to turn to foreign media or social networks offering free information, such as the Times of India—where this report comes from and which is an important player in international news.
👉 It's worth noting, however, the premature optimism I perceive in some protestors at the end of this report regarding the success of the peace plan supported by Trump. In the face of the rage and collective hysteria driving the quartet of von der Leyen, Macron, Starmer, and Merz, we must never overestimate our own side or, worse, underestimate our adversary. On the contrary, we must redouble our efforts to defend the return of peace to Europe.
