🔗 Apple not to stop working on Vision Pro 2, but to focus on a second simpler prototype available

📰 Contrary to rumors from The Information, which reported this week that Apple has halted work on the Vision Pro 2 – Mark Gurman on Bloomberg has different data.

🔗 According to him, work on the new version has not stopped, but has been scaled back for now. The next-generation Pro version is less of a priority right now. But the prototype of the model under the number "N109" is already inside the company. According to an insider – the new version is very similar to the current model, but includes a faster processor and improvements to the external cameras. The company has been looking for ways to make the next version lighter and more user-friendly, but it will still take more time. According to the latest reports, the "N109" project won't be released until the end of 2026 at the earliest.

🥽 Now the focus of the development team on a simpler version – the prototype number "N107", which presumably will be called Apple Vision. That is, it's a junior version that the company is considering making dependent on a connection to a Mac or iPhone. This will allow Apple to save on chips (there may be only one instead of two) and on components necessary for greater autonomy of the device. The "N107" prototype has no EyeSight display and simpler internal screens. Otherwise, it will be the same device format with all the software features. So the company wants to make a device roughly priced like the iPhone Pro version.

🕶 Gurman also said that Apple is still working on an augmented reality-only version of the glasses. By design, these would be lightweight everyday glasses that users could wear like regular sunglasses or medical glasses. But for now, it's still technically feasible to realize at the level the company envisions - even more expensive than the Vision Pro.

New features in macOS 👨‍🏫 Sequoia beta 2

The video presents the long-awaited iPhone Mirroring feature, which finally appeared beta 2 versions of macOS 15 Sequoia and iOS 18.

To launch it, you need to pair with iPhone, enter the passcode, give permission and then you can start using iPhone on Mac. You can control your phone with the cursor and keyboard on Mac, display notifications from iPhone, play videos, and open apps from the 📨.

But not everything works yet. In the mode, the iPhone Camera doesn't work, it's incompatible with Universal Access modes so far, and there's no option to output audio to external sources from iPhone in Mirroring mode. Also, testers note that there are a lot of bugs and there are issues with the functionality. Moreover, it doesn't work at all in the EU.

If you can't wait to try out the new macOS 15 Sequoia, you can update your device now. To do so, simply log in to Apple Developer using your Apple ID, and once logged in, check System Preferences > Genaral > Software Update > Beta Updates on your device. The latest beta version should become available for update.

📱 Dimensions of the four models in the iPhone 16 lineup

In the picture we can see the height, width and thickness (in red) of the new line up. The dimentions have allegedly been leaked, according to a new post from Majin Bu on 𝕏.

The leaker has also claimed that the new iPhone 16 will have a 3597 mAh battery, while the 16 plus will get a 4006 mAh battery and the 16 Pro Max will get a 4676 mAh battery.

🆕 in iOS 18 beta 2

🎛 Control Center – Controls can now be placed anywhere and in different rows, similar to the app icons on the Home screen.

The device's on/off button in Control Center is also reported to have a more pronounced tactile feedback when pressed, and it will only trigger when held, rather than just accidentally touched. This will prevent accidental presses of the device's on/off button when using the Control Center.

📱 Another new feature in iOS 18 is SharePlay Screensharing

📱 The 9to5Mac publication has shown a video demonstration of the SharePlay feature, which allows you to share and control your screen with another device. The feature so far works on iOS 18 beta 2 and iPadOS 18 beta 2 devices, as well as macOS Sequoia beta 2.

📞 In the screen control mode during a FaceTime conversation, you can interact with your interlocutor's device: swipe your finger or Apple Pencil on the screen, make notes and comments. It is not without bugs and errors, as it is a beta version, but many things work quite well.
